oh and only non-hispanics think cain spainsh will be a problem when trying to connect with the fans.

To new fans that are not into MMA. Yes it will be a problem. Latin roots or not. As a new viewer what would you prefer to watch? Someone speaking broken Spanish or the 5 or so other channels they have on Mexican tv?

It could be ok, as long as Cain is not speaking on an extended basis. Heck he's not known for being loquacious even in english. If it's bad enough, they add add spanish subtitiels (as was even done for some of the britts on season 9 oddly enough.) Ultimately, I think it's going to be the quality of the new fighters and their abilitiy to connect with the audience that will determine how successful TUF is.

If Cain is indeed going to be injured for even longer than expected , (as has been rumored) I don't have too much of a problem with this. They probably want to give cain some more facetime and exposure(as they keep their push into latin america), even if it is on a tv show.

Very true. The fighters they cast will have a huge impact on the success of the show. Phone Post 3.0

Very not true, bro. The quality of the fighters is irrelevant.

People want stars. If they tune in, it will be for Cain. Search your feelings, Luke. You know this to be true. The quality of the fighters on nations was probably similar to any other TUF and nobody watched it because it was Cote vs Noke. Two guys who, as someone said, should be fighting TUF'ers, not coaching them. Mean, I know. I'm sorry but it's true.

The women's fights on the last TUF were higher rated and wmma is way below in terms of quality.

I really don't think anyone cares about the fighters on TUF unless they're doing something stupid that isn't fight related.
That's what I meant when I agreed the fighters they cast will play a role in the success. Be it the crazy shit they do, their back story, or just personality alone. Who knows maybe we'll find the next Broly. Phone Post 3.0

Ah, my bad.

Doing shows in Mexico has to be dangerous. The police over there is scared of the Cartels. Phone Post 3.0

It's big for the growth of mma in Mexico. Sucks ass for every fan. Phone Post 3.0

I'm excited about the prospect of MMA getting more popular in Mexico. What Mexicans lack in natural athletic ability they more than make up for with their heart, aggression, and chin. I love watching them fight and know they can produce top fighters. Especially in the lower weight classes. I hope that season of Tuf is a huge success in Mexico, despite Cain's limited spanish. Phone Post 3.0

god fucking damn it, really?

TUF has been shit since I got into MMA (late 10') and even Dana doesn't bother to try and hype the show anymore. Ugh, how is this good business?

They really just need to use retired figthers and legends to coach and not fuck with title fights, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

Gfropr - Cain's Spanish is really bad. I can't see how new fans are going to connect with him if they can't understand him. Maybe they can do a Ozzy type deal and run subtitles of what he's trying to say. Phone Post 3.0

mexican fans will support him just because he has mexican blood/family.

lol no not the Mexicans in mexico. they're not too fond of mexicans that live in the u.s. Mexican americans don't give a fuck if a dude can't speak Spanish as long as he's Hispanic, down there it's looked down upon if you're Mexican and can't speak the native tongue. look for the fans that tune in to the show to show love to fabricio.

What's this forum's obsession with his ability to speak Spanish? I've heard a few of the interviews he did in Spanish and had no problem understanding him. He talks like a chicano

Bellator airs free in Mexico and i believe this will air opposite on the "UFC channel" which is a seperate subscription (pay) channel. My guess is the only way they can compete with "free mma" in Mexico is to try have the "mexican" champ be on TUF to draw people to their (The UFC's) pay channel by giving the people a figure they can relate to which will also help draw people into the seats at the live UFC on November 15th in Mexico.

The drug war is mostly in the north of the country, away from Mexico City.

Gñe - Heard that Broly is gonna comeback from the dead to audition for this.

He is gonna steal the spotlight from the coaches.

Shame on me... Broly is not dead. He is still taking selfies with soon to be beheaded narcos.

And he will win TUF.

LARGA VIDA A BROLY!!

Aha! Thought he may have been got during the uprising against the knights templar.

not true, at the end of the day mexicans will always root for the hispanic. they have more in common with spanglish cain than with brazilian spanish speaking werdum.

I get a lot of hate from my own family because I speak English when they're around. I read, write, and speak it fluently. I tell them to learn English they've been here long enough. Not to mention that my own relatives in Mexico treat me like shit because I was born here and I am not considered a real Mexican by them. They call me a gringo lol wtf?

Fuck em all. Integrate or go the fuck back to Meheeco. Phone Post 3.0

weight classes?? im assuming 145 since i seen LGarcia talking about trying to make his way back to the Ufc through tuf Phone Post 3.0

Yes, some mexicans are stupid enough to hate mexican-americans. Specially in the north, but Mexico City is a different animal.

The venue is Arena Ciudad de Mexico, it has around 22k seats. In the city live around 23-24 million people. And we have a lot of big Latin American communities, so I'm pretty sure the event will be full.

Mexicans are all about the hype. Televisa controls the media and knows how to produce hype... let's see if they invest in Cain. If they do, Cain would be massive success.

The issue with De La Hoya is he defeated El Maromero Páez and César Chavez (both very beloved and praised by mexican media).

Also De La Hoya was dressed like this:
http://espndeportes-assets.espn.go.com/2003/photos2008/1203/box_a_delahoya_300.jpg
So, there is no surprise mexican media wasn't happy.

Mexicans will root for the native mexican over the mexican-american, that's 100% true. But there are no mexicans in heavyweight, so Cain doesn't have any competence there.
