Wand/Chuck/Jardine/Lyoto- NEXT?

EDIT:  Thread title should read "POTENTIAL UFC LHW MATCHUPS".

With Forrest and Rampage squaring off after TUF, what match-ups do you foresee as interesting for LHW contendership in the UFC?

UFC LHW division is fucking spectacular right now.  The only guy I see who deserves an "easier" fight to build more name recognition is Wand.  I would like to see him fight someone like David Heath or Stephan Bonnar.  I would have LOVED to see Wand fight Bisping before he dropped.

JARDINE x LYOTO MACHIDA:  this fight just makes sense to me.  Winner gets a shot at the title after Forrest and Rampage fight.

TITO x SHOGUN RUA:  Tito has expressed interest in this fight, and must be encouraged after seeing Forrest dismantle Shogun.  This is a very tough fight for Shogun, but he was long touted as the #1 LHW and I don't even know if Tito cracks the top 10 anymore, so if he wants to advance he had better be able to get by Tito.  I'm sure Dana would like this match-up as well.

HOUSTON ALEXANDER x SOKO:  These two had an eerily similar rise out of nowhere in MMA, both knocking the shit out of higher ranked opponents by overwhelming them with aggressive striking.  I think this would be a great fight.

THIAGO SILVA x RASHAD EVANS:  Another fight that just makes sense to me.  I would like to see how Rashad deals with a slick BJJ guy.  Actually, I would LOVE to see this fight.

JASON LAMBERT x WILSON GOUVEIA:  Is this fight on?  I know it was rumored.  Two dark horses in the LHW division.

JAMES IRVIN x JAMES LEE:  James Lee is a great acquisition and surprised many with his quick win over Travis Wiuff in Pride.  He's explosive as hell and well rounded, and a fight with The Sandman would surely be an entertaining slug fest.

Of course, I've wasted my breath over the years crying for the UFC to hold a tournament, and this would be another perfect time and place (LHW) to do it.

Thoughts on these fights?

I'd be fine with these matchups.

Houston vs Sok absolutely has to happen!

What about Wanderlei Silva and Chuck while these fights happen? I'd love to see Silva/Jardine or Chuck/Lyoto. I think I would prefer Tito/Silva 2 to Tito/Shogun because of the history.

Nice post sandy!

Thanks, and fack... I did leave out Chack.  I mentioned "lighter" opponents for Wand.

Actually Rashad versus Chuck also makes sense.  Other than that, I can't really think of an appropriate opponent for Chuck at the time.  Suggestions?

And also, it's times like these when I wish the UFC still had BABALU.  I would love to see him fight Tito, Shogun again, Wand, Rashad, etc.  I'm also not opposed to the UFC bringing back VITOR to rematch Wand, and he also presents interesting matchups elsewhere at 205.

Excellent matchups! So we probably won't see but one or two over the next year...

Lambert/Gouveia is happening at UFC 80. Lambert is the most underrated LHW out there.

Thanks TC, I'm looking forward to that fight.  I think BOTH guys are seriously underrated at LHW.

"Lambert/Gouveia is happening at UFC 80. Lambert is the most underrated LHW out there."

I dunno about that, I'm pretty sure the Lambert/Gouveia fight is to find out who is more underrated. They are both solid guys who don't get a lot of attention right now.

tito x wand imo

I'm also very interested in seeing a Lyoto x Chack fight.  It could be amazing, or it could be the most impressive display of footwork and jabbing we've ever seen.

I like all of those fights except I'd like to see Chuck vs Thiago Silva. Chuck needs a few more wins before he challenges for the title, and Thiago would be a great matchup.

Or Chuck vs Rashad, but I don't think that Dana wants Rashad to get destroyed like that!

great matchups-would love to see Rashad fight thiago

Why do people want to see chuck/machida?

2 counter fighters matching up is generally not something people are calling for.

"Lyoto deserves the winner of Rampage/Forrest. "

So does Jardine. So the logical match up, beings we're going to have to wait till late July for the fight between Rampage and Forrest because of the show, would be Jardine/Machida for the #1 contender spot.

sok would go to sleep if houston touched him. id think he would take him down immediately

"sok would go to sleep if houston touched him. id think he would take him down immediately "

Here we go. Soko loses a fight to one of the best at 205 and all of a sudden, he sucks. LOL, this forum is something else.

sounds like a great card to me

I think Lyoto is more deserving then Jardine. Lyoto is undefeated right now, why take that allure possibly away when you can use it to market a title fight?

Maybe it's because I just have this utter disdain for Jardine for no apparent reason. I just can't stand watching the guy fight for some reason.

I actually couldn't agree more, especially on Jardine.  The most excitement I've felt about him is the thought about him doing the TechnoViking entrance.

Lyoto could use one more top win in the division, and the title won't be up for grabs for a while- so I'd still like to see him fight Keith.

Let us not forget how they would match up against Master Ferox:
