Matching Franklin up against guys like Romero is just pointless. The sport has evolved so much, of course he would get smashed. Just like Royce would get smashed by Cain.
Explain how it's evolved from Rich's prime ? I don't think it has
You don't think the sport has evolved in the past 10-15 years?
Explain to me how it has ?
It’s more mainstream
But what else has changed inside cage/ring ?
Okay, I’ll expain how it’s evolved. The fighters are better. In the past 15 years mma has evolved more than any other sport on earth.
Better and more naturally gifted fighters entering the sport does not equate to the sport evolving… Evolution is when cage/ring tactics and techniques are introduced and eventually become standard.
He beat Travis Lutter and Matt Hamill, and was robbed against "Decision Dan" Henderson, all three of whom are great wrestlers.
This. Are some of you newbs?
Wtf are you on about the sport evolving or him losing to wrestlers. Hamill was a machine. Rich would punch the face off most of todays contenders in his prime
Rich's style of striking was a bit too awkward for today's mma in my opinion. Rockhold, Weidman, Romero, Whitaker, maybe even Jacare could beat Rich at any point in his career. You forget Machida stomped him in his prime as well

I would say the overall level of skill and training is definitely up. Just comparing the top-10 to top-5 in the various weight classes compared to 10 years ago or so seems like a step up to me.
