The fight.
School me on it.
It was fucking bad, really fucking bad. Nick gave BJ the beating of a lifetime...
The first round was at least competitive but it was all Diaz for the rest of the fight.
BJ slowed down considerably in the second and third rounds. Most of the fight took place on the feet and Penn took a beating.
Ironclad - The first round was at least competitive but it was all Diaz for the rest of the fight. This and I'd like to add, one of the elements that made the fight such a good one is that in the 3rd round in spite of what Diaz did to BJ's face, BJ came out bombing looking for a finish and never wavered. It was AWESOME. You need to get ahold of the fight and enjoy what makes MMA the greatest sport.

Yeah, much respect to BJ. I didn't use to be a fan, in part due to some of the rabid, overbearing fans that he has.
He's won me over though. Exciting fighter, fearless, and fights to finish, unlike many of the point fighters that are becoming more common these days. His legacy is far more than just wins and losses.
BJ won the first round, and lost the 2nd and 3rd, imo.
Diaz was picking him apart on the feet, and BJ was gassing.
BJ came out with all heart in the 3rd, but Diaz's pace and reach advantage was too much for him.
A beatdown? Don't know if i would call it a beat down.
Definitely a dominating performance by Nick, but calling it a beat down is subjective, since BJ never got knocked down.
Wobbled a bit, but he never went down.
Chimonos Revenge - BJ won the first round, and lost the 2nd and 3rd, imo.I agree with most of what you are saying, but disagree with BJ gassing. He may have been tired, but it's an MMA fight. Everyone gets tired. And yes, it was a beat down. Getting knocked down isn't a requirement. When was the last time BJ's face looked like this?

The last three minutes of the second round was absolutely brutal. Diaz had BJ against the cage and was just teeing off at will for three minutes straight with almost every shot landing. I don't think there are many people on the planet who could have taken that and stayed on their feet.
The third round was far more competitive and BJ actually landed quite a lot of decent shots.
Still think BJ has always been overated. This fight was not hard to predict. GSP and Diaz....GSP will hit and run...I think GSP will TRY to do just enough to win. Diaz is a threat if he stays smart. If Diaz takes GSP out of his game ie land a good punch....it will be all over for GSP/.

BJ landed 76 punches. Nick landed 239. I'd call that a beatdown.
Cheers Guys ;-)
Didn't BJ have any luck with td's at all?
I'll be honest, I've never been a fan of Nick Diaz, But that is one bad dude.
that was the worst "beating" bj has ever taken to the face.

My sentiments.
I would classify it as a beat down. Mid way through the 2nd when Diaz really started to pick up steam, I kinda felt bad for BJ because he didn't know how to handle it. I really thought he may not answer the bell for the 3rd round. Penn showed why he is a legend of the sport to keep fighting through that punishment and still going for the finish at the end. Awesome fight.
Lloyd gave me my bluename -disbeliever -Maybe not worse but definitely on par. Congrats for posting a pic not showing BJ's face looking worse than it did saturday
He asked a question, you answered incorrectly, and when he called you on it you accused him of wearing panties..
Now which one of you two has the vayaya?

He didn't just answer the bell and survive, he was genuinely competitive in the third round. He showed huge heart after a beating that would have gotten 99% of fighters out of there in the 2nd.
GSPtruefan - I don't remember bj being floored. <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
BJ has never been dropped in his entire career.

You have to remember that two of Nicks punches are one of Penn's
