I had a weird thing happen to me.
I was at an open mat in Santa Ana this morning. I ran out to the car with my gi pants on because I forgot my water. A black car rolls up next to me and says "hey, what belt are you"
I say "black"
Him "me too. I'm under joe moreira. I was just on tuf with verdum. I'm a king of the cage champ and a first degree black belt"
He then pulls out a cd and hands it to me
"I'm looking for some support. Would you want to buy this. It has music and my fights on it"
Me: I don't have my wallet. What's your name
Him: they call me legacy. I take credit card too.
Me: sorry I don't have my wallet.
He then drives off
It was a big wtf

Everything the guy said sounds like bullshit. It's also pretty easy to find Werdum's TUF: Latin America fighters' MMA records and I don't believe any of them had KoTC experience. And since he coached the Latin America team, most of the guys' experience was limited to MMA promotions in Central and South America. If he's trying to say he was a coach, I don't remember Werdum's BJJ coach on the show but I thought the guy was a black belt under Renzo. And all of this is aside from the fact that he's driving around trying to sell DVDs out of his car.

Joe was a regular "hot button" topic here, even 10-15 years ago. I think his "legit" students (and he does have legit students) eventually threw their hands up in frustration and completely gave up even trying to defending the guy's promotions.
