I use this pass when I catch head and arm choke in half guard top. I use this pass to get to side and finish.

I used the near side underhook tonight with great success. I can’t believe how blind I’ve been to it.

lol @ “….his dad is watching, has a knife in his pocket, so be nice…”

Awesome

Attack the near or far arm from same lapel grip. 3min 24sec.

When it’s time to practice the move JJ often says something like “coloured belts with white belts”.

What do you think about that? I think it makes the skill level in the room as a whole increase faster, but drilling with a white belt can often feel like a waste of time.

In for when i have time

I ask for this too when I teach fundamentals and higher belts show up. It is boring for the upper belts but they can still learn from it, they learn to teach and break down the technique.

Flower sweep. 2 and a half minutes.

JJ is very economical with his instruction. e.g. “See how my leg rubs his body”.

Tip for avoiding open guard passes; make them look down.

(p.s. I am not JJ Machado)

Last video about looking down is great! Why am I only learning this concept now lol.

Just learning of breaking posture???

In the context of making uke look down to make his passing harder, yes. I’ve always broken posture for sweeps and subs.
