A guy like Yves Edwards who is a veteran of this sport, known and loved by many a fight fan, gets KO'd brutally. It gets replayed over, and over, and over, with special attention paid by Joe Rogan as to how hard his head bounced off the canvas and how "he's still out, we hope he is ok, but look at his eyes - this is not good!".... not another word was mentioned about Yves for the remainder of the evening.
In other professional sports, there are many, many more updates as to an athlete's condition when he receives an injury like this, fans deserve far better than to be left hanging and grasping for internet rumor/update after a fight to see if our favorite fighters are ok. At the very least, mention how a guy is doing at the end of the broadcast instead of brushing it under the rug and leaving us to scramble for news.
The UFC MUST do a better job of letting us know what is up regarding injuries that appear to be as severe as this looked and was described by its commentators. These guys are human, they don't become an afterthought once they are rendered unconscious.

Apparently they do. :(

TTT I was expecting some info after that KO especially. Good post OP.
I was just thinking the same thing, it really came to my mind when there was the recent knockout via spinning back fist in the prelims a UFC or 2 ago, the only reason I know the dude who was knocked is ok is that there hasn't been any news on it.
TTT
100% agree, as a fan of Yves that was hard to watch
They even replayed the fight on the PPV broadcast, even after Yves' condition had to be better known and still let that part of Joe's commentary play, "this is not good! his eyes are wide open!"... after it's over, cut to a smiling Goldy and zero mention of how Yves was doing.
At the very least, there should be an update page at UFC.com where people can go to check on fighters who have been seriously hurt. To Bellator's credit, there was a recent fight where one of the Pitbull brothers destroyed Toby Imada - they needed an extra commercial break to tend to Toby after the KO, and the Bellator announcing team mentioned Toby several times throughout the broadcast and alluded to his condition being better, I thought that was a very nice touch.
Agreed, I was shocked there was no mention of Yves' recovery.

agreed!
Looks like Yves is alright. Didn't find that out through any UFC source, but through Yves' twitter account - which is bullshit.
If you're going to hype up the dramatic KO's with the sensational commentary, you owe the viewer more information than just sweeping it under the rug like they did last night. WAR YVES

Truth
Good post.
Agreed. Even in horse racing if a horse has a bad fall but the jockey is fine, at the end of the race they will report on or show the horse walking so viewers know it's ok.
Would have taken 5 seconds to say 'Edwards is ok and in his dressing room'.
Agreed to all posts! (can't remember the last time that happened)
If this were the NHL, this is the follow up reporting we would get:
"Speculation is that he's suffering from an upper body injury, possibly from that blow to the head."
