WEC SIGNS MUNOZ

Mark Munoz, a former NCAA national wrestling champion at Oklahoma State, has agreed to a six-fight contract with World Extreme Cagefighting. The Vallejo Times-Herald reported the deal, which Munoz called a “high six-figure contract,” on Friday.

According to the report, the WEC has targeted a Sunday, June 1 debut for Munoz at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, Calif. The unbeaten Munoz (3-0) last fought in October, when he secured a unanimous decision victory over Tony Rubalcava at Palace Fighting Championship 4 “Project Complete.”

*Never heard of him before. Can anyone tell me a little more about him? Thanks!

LOL. high six figure contract? Wake up from your dream now.

what weight will he fight at? i thought this guy was pretty big...

I'm always confused when people say high six figures...do they mean close to $1 million or close to $200,000?

WHAT WEIGHT IS HE?

The WEC definitely did not give Mark Munoz 700k guaranteed money.

probably the same as the TUF "6 figure contract"

not bad for a 3-0 college wrassler...where does he train? what else is he good at?

ttt 4 WEC

I guess he trains with Faber and his camp. LHW i'm assuming:

Urijah Faber California Kid 5'6 (168cm) 140lbs (64kg) Capital City Fighting Alliance
Jeremy Freitag   6'1 (185cm) 205lbs (93kg) Capital City Fighting Alliance
Tyrone Glover       Capital City Fighting Alliance
James Irvin   6'2 (188cm) 205lbs (93kg) Capital City Fighting Alliance
Poppies Martinez Tachi Kid 5'9 (175cm) 155lbs (70kg) Capital City Fighting Alliance
Billy Miles   5'10 (178cm) 185lbs (84kg) Capital City Fighting Alliance
Mark Munoz       Capital City Fighting Alliance
Scott Smith   6'0 (183cm) 204lbs (93kg) Capital City Fighting Alliance

He's a light heavy.

Well Doug Marshall or Brian Stann likely just got a future opponent.

I remember when the PFC brought him in.Keep in mind that the PFC & the old WEC were a tightly knit group and probably still are.I`m not surprised that the WEC picked him up.

Mark Munoz is a bad ass.

One thing is that the 6 figures can be a break down of the total pay for the 6 fights.

For example it can be:
10-10 per fight which totals 20k per fight given he wins every fight.

that totals 120k for 6 fights. That is a possible 6 figure contract. I doubt that Munoz as god of a wrestler he is will get paid more than Randy or any other champ in the UFC.

Mark won the NCAA's at 197 lbs at Oklahoma State. He has been a coach, coaches wrestling at UC davis. His wrestling is as good as anyone in MMA. He is an Olympic level wrestler.

We were honored to have him compete in the PFC and knew that this day would come for him with time and some seasoning. We are very proud to be associated with Mark not just because he's a tremendously talented fighter..but because he's a helluva' good guy.

He's a great sportsman, someone the sport can build on and he's very well rounded..he's not just a wrestler.

TTT for Mark Munoz and the WEC!

Sounds like PFC needs a good replacement at 205. Aaron Simpson,
former asst coach at ASU.

Aaron was a two-time All American (D1)

Pac 10 Champion

Silver Medal at 1997 Pan Ams

USA National Team member

4th at the Olympic Trials

Amazing guy, who is every bit of a coach as he is a competitor. he was
Cain Velasquez wrestling coach at ASU.

2-0 in MMA and looking for a multi fight home.

Stud on the ground, very intense. I think the Wec is a good fit for him. Still think he needs a little more seasoning in his next few fights.

Mark's fight against Anthony Rublacava in the Palace Fighting Championships was great.

Munoz definitly has the tools to become the man!

thought this was about Joey Marimberga at 135 or Chris Conolley at 155
