all too true......

That's kind of depressing.

That's great stuff.

Coach -- what were you doing there? Did you actually want to see if it was a good facility, or did you go there to hear specifically which line of bullshit you'd hear? Specifically to write an article about what kind of marketing we're likely to run into? Or something else?

I'm curious -- you didn't need a gym, clearly!

i use to like to go and look at gyms whenever i was visiting another city, i have grown out that as it got too predictable

when i was in Mexico a few weeks ago i ran into the same thing, i was there about 15 minutes next thing i knew i was giving the entire gym a lecture

should have kept my mouth shut
figured that out after a few minutes and went back to doing my db snatches, should have seen the looks on their faces

i am writing an article write now that will take a look at my training and overfeeding while in mexico

These gyms are essentially catering to the uneducated. People who rely on these machines just don't realize how, in the long run, they're just setting themselves up for weakness and injuries.

I live in a condo with a gym downstairs. Gym management has done everything to try to convince the board to replace the smith machine with a power rack, but to no avail.

Yes,LOL. Though they probably would just be all the more convinced that they're glad they're not so "primitive". Can't tell you how often I've gotten someone's moral superiority all over me because I was doing an explosive lift, or a bent press, or a turkish get- up.....

Oddly, I've had the opposite response.

The gym staff love what I do with KB's. One of them is practically obsessed with KB training, since I exposed him to it.

The others are in awe with what I do with the KB's (out of sheer ignorance, I assure you), but I believe they are also profoundly perplexed, because they still think in terms of "body part training" as opposed to "strength building through movement."

Nice staff. Actually, all of the lip I've gotten has been from other gym patrons, not staff. Only ever had one staff member say anything to me regarding "weird exercises" and he was into it. Over the years, no other trainers ever offered any feedback, pro or con.

most trainers in commercial gyms have no idea why or what those exerciese are?

i have spoken to numerous trainers that agree with everything i say while not really understanding a word of it

actually one of the most common fallacies is the mis-use of supposed olifts and derviatives i have met very few that can actually perform or coach these methods

here is a quick funny story
guy was in my facility he used to be a college football player told me he knew everyting about training and nut in fact he had probably tried everything, i asked him about kbs sure he had used those in college, Next, i asked him to go in the side room and pick up those kbs bring them out and he could show me what he done with them , so he went in rm had been in for a while came back out said he couldnt find

guess what had no idea what they were (very typical)

i have hundreds of these stories

i am thiking about putting some articles together looking at soem of these scenarios

thanks
