Fabricio Werdum recently spoke with Brazilian media giant Globo about Anderson Silva's positive test for PEDs. In an interview in October, Silva called for a lifetime ban in PED users

"When the guys test for the steroids, (they should have) no more fights,"  said Silva. "When you use the steroids, you use them for a long time. When you use the steroids for a long time, you have a problem. It’s a drug and it’s not good for the sport."

Werdum wants Silva to stick by his words, and fight no more forever.

"Anderson let a lot of people down, mostly because he said that fighters using PEDs shouldn't fight anymore," said Werdum as transcribed by Fernando Arbex for BE. "Everybody wants to hear what he has to say. Let's see if he'll keep his word and retire. It damaged his image. Everybody knows who Anderson is and this happened out of nowhere. It damaged the image of the sport too, an image that took a long time to be built. People who dislike MMA say that the sport is a fraud and all fighters use drugs, but that isn't the true. I can speak for myself, I'm a big guy but not that strong and muscled. I have never used."

"Maybe he used something during his recovery and couldn't get clean at the right time? I don't think that he tried to enhance his performance. It's hard to tell. Everything that he did for the sport can't be erased. He had a long career and was a warrior. He was one of the greatest of all time, we can't debate that."

Globo also referenced friction between "The Spider" and "Vai Cavalo", since Silva refused to shake Werdum's hand after Werdum tapped Rodrigo Minotauro at UFC on FUEL 10 in June of 2013.

I'm going go agree on this one. Phone Post 3.0

Pretty sure we will never see him fight again.

Silva is done Phone Post 3.0

Fabricio telling it like it is. They are friends and train together sometimes at Kings.

Wonder if the 2 losses and the injury on top of that really shook his mentality and he was willing to try anything.

I could picture that old jacked dude that's always with him dangling a bottle and syringe in front of him. Phone Post 3.0

Shots fired.

He's right. Silva said if you are caught using steroids you should retire. Well he was caught both before and after the fight. Phone Post 3.0

He should retire if he wants to. Not because he got caught.

Not to excuse Silva, but I think that had something to do with it, plus having all of Brazil hyped for his comeback must have put a tonne of pressure on him to succeed.

Can't argue with what Fabricio said, and as a hugh Silva fan I'm very disappointed on these turn of events. He's still my favourite fighter so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but there will always be that question mark of him possibly being a regular user.

I agree 100 percent. After those two losses in Pride Anderson probably started using PEDS and never stopped.

Fedor=GOAT

His legacy is tarnished. The rumors, the syringe pictures from his locker room, black house reputation.

People will always look at him as the guy was most probably was always using, his last cycle just went bad.

He should just retire.

funny coming from werdum.  dude packed on like 30-40 lbs of muscle as he hit his 30s

lol do you know what he would look like if he put that much muscle on, i'd be surprised if Werdum had put 10lbs on since he started.

I think he's been using for many years thb, he looked no different body wise, and it was not his best performance was it.

Black Sabbath - If he'd been using for years he wouldnt have got busted in his post fight drug test.

Bollocks, they have just upped the testing after he got busted for his first ever OOC test.

I am/was a huge Anderson fan but his reputation and legacy are in tatters. We will never know the truth but it is likely he used throughout his career.

I do wonder if the PED controversy will scupper MMA getting into New York...
