What about a "walk around weight class'?

No more bullshite weight cutting.

How about "I weigh XXX and xx oz and lets bang bro"?

Why not? Why do dudes have to cut 25 lbs to have an 'advantage'?

I mean keep the weight classes ,but just knock it off already

Wish it was this way

It's an old wrestlers mentality. Guys who miss weight shouldn't be fighting in that class. Just fight already

Yea fuck cutting weight. Makes no sense

Don't most wrestlers cut weight??

Yes, Captain Obvious.

Lol sorry, But this cutting weight shit is just too much BS

I didn't cut weight for either of my fights. Weigh ins were awesome. I felt amazing haha.

Yes sir. Weighed in 133 fully hydrated. Was eating subway in my room before the weigh in, helping another fighter cut weight lol.

How are they going to weigh the fighters while they are walking around?  They would need a very large scale or put a treadmill on a scale and tare out the weight of the treadmill.  Neither method is practical.

well if they did it that way they would have to do it at a weight range as it's pretty hard to stay at an exact weight

Also,  guys would still cut and you can just about guaruntee it will lead to more MMA deaths as guys will be fighting dehydrated which means less cushion for the brain.

Isn't OneFC doing this?

Would have to be on the fighters word. Hard to enforce. Maybe allow a small cut but someone will always push it too far. Not foolproof but even posting on social media weeks out weighing themselves at the gym. So many ways to cheat.

I don't get this thread. Dude's aren't being forced to cut 25 lbs they are doing so by choice. Everyone agrees weightcutting should be eliminated, but what you are suggesting is that they to just force people not to cut weight? Any suggestions on how to enforce this? Do you want a model closer to One Championships? Or is the point of this thread to just say cutting weight is dumb?

Wouldn't the same guys be fighting the same guys pretty much, 20-30lb heavier in most cases?

I believe Sonnen called that the Gangsta weight class. All of them. Haha

ok so a 10 lb weight diff? So if Mr. Tough guy, who is 5'9" and 185 gets to fight Mr. Assasian who is 6' and 180- for the strap? Instead of  Mr.TG cutting 30 to fight LW and Mr. A just gets to bang at his natural lanky ass weight?

I just think that these weight cuts are fucking ridiculous. Example: JJ should be fighting HW  at his WAW of 225 and Conor should'nt cut to 145 to fight smaller dudes.

No, it's just kind of stupid and outdated. The point is, let the best man win regardless of genetics or cuts. I know it can't be done or enforced, there's always going to be some dude that wants to beat up on smaller men but it's just a thought

Haha.

A walk around weight class would requre an honor system that is just not realistic.

I used to have a joke at the gym that to determine a guys actual weight, ask him what his walk weight is (he will always say 10 lbs lighter than he is)

and ask what weight they cut from (always 10 lbs more)

Whatever weight is in between is most likely correct.
