It's time for the UFC to incorporate the Super-Lightweight division into MMA.
155 to 170 lbs is too big of a jump.
To correct this let's see 155 lbs. 165 lbs. and 175 lbs. Turn Welterweight into 175 lbs.
Introduce the new Super-Lightweight division @ UFC 200.
Nate Diaz is real hot right now. Time to give him his deserved push.
Plus the UFC already has Nate on a Championship level pay scale, might as well get your $$$ worth Dana.
Let 22-0 Khabib and Nate fight for the 165 lbs. belt. They have the history with the Vegas brawl and Nate wouldn't be the favorite, so he would be getting favoritism, but nothing easy and actually one of the worst matchups for Nate on paper potentially...It would just add to the luster of a Diaz win though..
But in reality Khabib doesn't show up.
So have Tony Ferguson vs. Nate Diaz fight @ UFC 200 for a Super-Lightweight belt, with Khabib and others on standby.
155 LBS. is too stacked.
How long does Eddie Alvarez have to sit around? There needs to be another belt.
165 lbs. is the perfect division to add, because it's attractive to current Welterweight, as well as Lightweights, who struggle to make 155.

LW and WW is so stacked with talent that the UFC should do exactly what CRE is suggesting.
They could call it Light Welterweight.
I don't get the point. Guys like RDA or Edgar could beat Nate at 165 just as easily as they would at 155.

200+ fighters on the UFC roster in those 2 divisions combined. Absurd.

Look at the talent depth of 155 and 170.
Most fighters can never dream of breaking into the top 50 lightweights in the world.
LW is deeper than 125 and HW combined.
The sport absolutely needs to transition to 155, 165, and 175.
Or UFC could -
One month have the best 6 LW's fight each other-3 great LW fights, and on the same card have 6 of the 6-12 ranked fighters fight on the same card. Two weeks later, have 6 of the 12 lower ranked LW's fight each other, and the top 6 FW's fight each other on the same card.
Now, in two weeks time, you have a better understanding who the top guys are. Winners face the winners, losers face the losers-two months later.
By the 9th month, the best of each division will have beaten top guys to clearly earn a title shot.
Boom, problem fixed.
165 lbs. will be the most comfortable division for a guy like Sage Northcutt for instance.
