I'm really making an effort to bulk up not eat too much junk on the way.
Just interested in hearing everyone's 3 (or more) most lived by, basic diet tips that anyone can follow.
Even though alot of people may say that the 5-6 meals a day doesnt matter, it really helps if you are someone inclined to binge eating after a long fast. Total calories matters most in the end, but splitting up the meals as the day goes by makes it easier to not overeat.
Make meals ahead of time, and maybe even keep track of your macronutrient totals if youre planning on being super precise. Myfitnesspal is the easiest way to do that.
Cheat meals are ok too. Honestly, a carb is a carb, protein is protein, and fat is fat. You really can get bored from the chicken and rice blueprint after a while so treat yourself every now and again. Depending on what your goals are, figure out a way to fit a cheat meal into your diet, it will keep you sane and be rewarding.
As the guy above me said splitting your calories up into 5-6 meals a day makes sense but its not as important as bros will lead you to believe so don't let eating your meals every 2-3 hours take over your life! Use my fitness pal, prepare meals in advance and eat when you can.
Some things that made a difference for me:
Replace every drink with just cold water
Cardio in the am on an empty stomach
Eat a lean meat with lots of veggies at every meal, and I only consume carbs ie sweet potatoes, brown rice, etc at meals right after I lift.
Plus I do IF, and only eat from 11am -6pm
Drink water
Eat much more green leafy veggies.
Eat fruit.
Not rocket science.
Preparation, when I do a shop on a Sunday I get everything I need for the week and make healthy meals that I can make a extra portion off for work the next day.
When the weathers nice and I do stuff on a Sunday I end up eating junk most nights and getting baguettes for lunch
Cycle your macros, meaning eat the majority of your calories after your workout. High carbs on workout days, low carb on rest days.
Eat more vegetables and less junk food.
Sweet potatoes, protein, lots of veggies
Eat
Train
Eat more
Eat some more
Eat again
Repeat
Great advice guys keep it coming.
I guess my biggest problem is junk food at night. I have problems eating clean all day, but have bad habits of snacking up later at night from my younger days.
- Drink water or naturally flavored Seltzer (i love polar seltzer)
2. Meals are always a lean protein and veggie
3. Cheat day once a week...you will end up doing one meal
the hardest for me to follow so I would be a hypocrite if it was one of three...no booze
Try to eat your protein early in the day so at night you can stuff on your carbs and fats.if your counting macros that is
"It depends..."
Meaning try to find out what works for you. Have common sense. What works for you might not work for another person.
Cheat days kill me. I personally am far better off eating candy now and then when I feel like it.
Don't eat anything with sugar (including fruit)
Run
no fast food
ams - Don't eat anything with sugar (including fruit)Not sure if he's trolling, but dont follow this guys advice. Sugar is not bad and is actually a good way to replenish glycogen post-workout, and fruit is good for you. Fruit fills you up, has essential vitamins and minerals, and has fiber. Satisfies a sweet tooth also. I would stay away from fast food though because its just plain bad for you.
