I just watched Anatomy of a Fighter episode featuring Sean O’Malley.
Tim Welch is a former fighter, he was on the Bellator show Fight Master, but since 2017 he’s taken a coaching role, and he’s 110% committed to Sean O’Malley.

When I saw them on JRE afew years ago:
Not sure about the coach, from a psychological standpoint the Dad’s a total fucking douchebag lol. We were asked to judge people, I’m judging
I remember him from TUF and “Fight Master”, he was decent, had pretty explosive punches. Seemed to lack heart, would lose fights he was winning.
Looks like one of the ginger kids from Children of the Corn all grown up
I’ll be honest… at first I thought Tim was leeching off O’Malley’s Contenders Series / Snoop Dogg fame . I noticed Tim was only coaching Sean as a full time job, and not any other fighters.
There’s a lot of snakes in the game that do this. They’ll put years in for the payoff, and as soon as you are no longer the cash cow they are gone.
BUT I heard Sean say they’ve been friends since they BOTH lived in Montana! So they must go back much further than the contender series. I personally think Tim seems like a cool and genuine guy. I saw a few cringe videos with Sean, Tim, 6ix9ine, and those Nelk boys… (link below) just seems silly acting like a college partygoer when you’re 30 years old. Ive heard Sean O’Malley say they’ve went on a 3 day Miami bender as recently as 1 month ago. When Sean did the Q&A in London he said he was hung over from it.
I don’t feel Tim is in anyway leeching off of O’Malley but him being Sean’s HC is not good for his career. He’s a yes man and thats not what Sean needs.
Completely agree. I have no idea how Tim is as a coach, but the partying is what concerns me about O’Malley long term career and why I have doubts he becomes a champion.
Something that also concerns me, I heard Sean say he’s never been rocked or KO’d before, and a reporter followed up with him on that and said what about training, and he said no, and that he barely does any sparring, let alone hard sparring. Maybe he has a good chin, or just hasn’t gotten cracked?
Sean thinks he can cruise on his god given ability and his length. If he really wants to get better he should go train with Cejudo.
You’re 100% correct on the partying thing. He’s too much in his comfort zone with Tim. Also him being a swinger/open relationship while recently having a kid is another sign he hasn’t grown up at all.
Accurate. Except no heart. Tough as nails, not a quitter. Hes not great at not going for glory. Worked well enough up to a certain point. Hes legit, Montana bred. I know he was at Quest for a while several years ago and I believe got his purple there.
He has a dusty SN here.
I think Omalleys partying is exaggerated for attention and “I dont give a fuck” points tbh. But it bothers me considerably. Lots of young guys look up to him here and emulate him. I watched my buddys youngest turn into a shitbag because he bought in to it. Ended up robbing a pot dealer and fucking his life up pretty good trying to be that guy.
That is pretty bizarre. I’ve heard him speak on it a few times and it sounds like she lets him bang but he’s a little stingy about it. Lol
Yeah he’s capitalizing on the fame from the Nelk Boys and 6ix9ine, I get it, but that generation of pranksters , TikTok wannabe celebrities are cancer of society. I’m glad Luke Rockhold called out the full send reporter for being a degenerate. Lol.
Incredibly padded record.
I remember the Bjorn days of Bellator. Tim stepped up to face Mikhail Tsarev, I believe Tim was going by the nickname “Cheap shot” in those days if I remember correctly.
Yeah, that was his nickname.
He was far better than his record showed, IMO. He just had a touch of the Andy Wang.
He wasgood on the ground but always tried to war. He wasn’t good at reading the opp and changing up. He’d just double down. With predictable results.
Not defending him or anything, but I watched his career and know some of the same people. Hes cool in my book. Obviously others too when you look at how many chances he got as a fighter. Glad hes found some post fight purpose, thats always the challenge.
