Any ideas? Does that mean that Fitch or Parisyan fight Serra for the title?
That's no good. IMO, if GSP loses than Serra just has his number whereas Fitch and Karo would probably beat Serra 9/10 times.

bump
If Serra wins again, I would be more shocked than the first time he won.
Which is saying alot :)
Weird that people would be shocked if Serra who has better standup and has a better ground game wins.
Then Chris Lytle should get a shot, because he was the one who truly won the TUF4 final.
doesn't matter if Serra wins or not, he will fight hughes next. It is the fight that sells the most tickets, so that is the little monopoly man will make happen.
If matty wins it would most likely be Hughes next. If GSP wins it can be 1 of a few options. I'm a big fan of both but a former student of Serra's so i'm obviously pulling for Matt. Especially just to see all the haters have an absolute melt down.
"Then Chris Lytle should get a shot, because he was the one who truly won the TUF4 final."
Was there some criteria other than the fight on Spike? Matt Serra won that - "truly".
"Then Chris Lytle should get a shot, because he was the one who truly won the TUF4 final."
If by "truly won" you mean - he retreated the entire fight and defended take downs while Serra controlled the octagon and was the aggressor 100% of the time... then yes, he "truly won".
Also, GSP will kill Serra this time around.
Part deux is not going to be like part 1.GSP is on a mission and he will be the winner.
Matt Hughes will get the shot even if he is working at Wal Mart . Too much of a PPV buy for Dana to pass that fight up
I'm not sure when Serra has shown a better ground game in the UFC than GSP. Sure, in BJJ only or ADCC tournaments, Serra is easily more decorated. In MMA, GSP has shown a superior ground game. His top game is at an elite level with GNP and submissions, and he's constant action. Even with Serra's impeccable grappling credentials, he hasn't looked overly impressive in that facet in the UFC.
Serra's standup is/was underrated. He's getting more credit now for being technically sound and also having heavy hands. He could catch GSP again if GSP ducks into another hook and takes a shot to the back of the head.
Doesn't matter if he has shown it or not. There is a reason GSP didn't put the fight on the ground the first time. He knows it's not a good idea.
Actually, it does matter. Serra hasn't shown to be a really dangerous threat off his back in recent UFC fights, and GSP is outstanding in top control and GNP. Parisyan showed a blueprint on how to handle Serra on the mat from top, and GSP is better than Karo in that realm.
There's plenty of things GSP will likely do different in this fight from the first fight, from his training camp (who he trains with and how long his training camp is) to gameplan to motivation.
Yes Karo showed a blueprint - get Matt when he has a knee injury that is so bad that he didn't roll for 6 months.
good thing Serra isn't coming off an injury for this fight then, or else he may be susceptible to getting battered on the ground like he did against Karo.
If Serra subs GSP off his back/sweeps GSP/consistently gets back to his feet after takedowns, it would be a surprise given his recent performances in the UFC in those scenarios.
If GSP is really at as big a disadtantage on the feet as many believe, then we'll get to see this ground battle.
GSP won't lose. But if lightning strikes twice, then I will take back all of the crap I've talked about Serra for the last year.
I like Serra, but he's out of his league. He caught GSP unawares the first time, it won't happen again.
Serra was winning easily before the big punch. It's not like it came out of nowhere. The one who was out of his league was GSP.
The first fight had very few strikes of consequence during the 2:30 or so that it was on the feet. Nothing whatsoever to indicate that either guy was out of his league. With GSP having a new head trainer and new training camp, and not coming off a knee injury, fight #2 will probably be much different. The first fight also saw no takedown attempts by GSP. The 2nd fight almost certainly will.
I retract my previous statement. Matt Serra is the best fighter alive today, by far, his striking is amazing and if it hits the ground he would submit anyone or anything for that matter. Serra for president, sorry I doubted him.
Matt Hughes is alive today because he fought that CAN Georges St. Pierre and not Matt Serra.
