What Happened to David Tua?

Does anyone know what happened to David Tua? Is he only fighting once a year now or has he retired from boxing?

He will be 32 years old in November, been over eighteen months since his last fight.

Hopefully, the court stuff will be resolved soon and he can come back, if he wants to.

he was supposed to fight in August. that's the last thing I heard on him

If he had the desire of John Ruiz he might still be fighting. Sure he KO'd Ruiz, but Johnny is still fighting, and he has a belt.

Imagine if Tua was WBA champ instead of Ruiz...there might have even been a reason to watch heavyweight boxing.

I hear he is now over 300 pounds

"there might have even been a reason to watch heavyweight boxing."

What would that be? to watch a guy throw 310 punches in 12 rounds....297 of them left hooks?

If you watch Tua in the mid 90s, compared to the late 90s and recently, the guy's really slowed down.

he threw 70-80 punches vs. Ibeabuchi, taking even more in return. Now, he just sleepwalks until tossing the occasional big hook. He's definitely lost a couple steps and that's too bad, because he had a lot of talent and toughness that is rare.

No, to see fights like Tua/Ruiz or Tua/Moorer. Even when he fought boring, there was always the chance of landing something big. I think both of his fights with Rahman were pretty good, entertainment wise.

Tua used to be one of my favorite fighters, but he did indeed seem to slow down alot. Prime example of why I consider heavyweights a bunch of dorks though... even when he was in his "prime" now that I think about it he often came into fights looking pretty sluggish and/or overweight

Hard to stay disciplined when you are a heavyweight because there is no weight limit.

he was 224 for Ibeabuchi...one he started getting into the 230s and 240s and 250s, he just got slower and slower....

I read somewhere that Tua was attacked by a Tiger. He is probably recovering from his injuries.

Tua is soooo frustrating to watch sometimes. Talk about feast or famine.
