What is the difference among Gracies

Other than the obvious, what I am getting at is what is the difference in their each individual styles. How does Renzos style differ from Royce? Etc. Like I have heard that Ralph has a style that is more aggressive, and Relson has a style more geared toward self defense. I have always wondered this and thought the guys on the UG would know.

What about the girls on the UG

A few years ago someone asked this same question and someone showed up on the thread that seemed to have all the answers. Cant remember who that was now but I'll TTT this in hopes that dudes shows up again.

I'd actually be interested to hear this, I live near Ralph's in SF and have always wanted to go but being a student I can't really afford it Phone Post

Watch the Renzo VS Ryan sparring in "the smashing machine" DVD extras.

well they all have some things in common

Renzo has the perfect mix of technical precision and aggressiveness. He fought the toughest comp in mma and did very well against the younger guys in Abu Dhabi. And in comparison to the other Gracies, he puts out the best students. I think he is the best instructor because he has always competed to keep his skills sharper, while, imo, some of the others felt it wasn't worth the risk. And obviously there's nothing wrong with that.

Too many of them bastids to answer.

Carlos Gracie alone had 21 children.

Renzo has the awesomest personality

Hmm, I think this is a really good question. There are a gazillion Gracies, so I'd be interested in hearing about guys like Rickson, Royce, Royler, Renzo, Ralph,Relson, Rorion and Ryan to start out. I know you always hear that Rickson was the best pure athlete of the family, but I'd love to hear someone who's really in the know break down their individual styles.

Great thread OP, if it gets answered that is.

Carlson produced the most & the best fighters IMO.
