What kind of deadlifts do you guys do and why?
I have a trap bar but i too like the sumo vu
Sumo . Wish I had a trap bar. Sometimes do a stiff leg
Conventional and sumo , stronger on conventional
Conventional. Used a trap bar for years when I had access to one, loved it but current gym doesn't have one.
Conventional as its what I do at meets.
Pause deadlifts - helps me in the lower portion of the lift
Deficit pulled helps my bar speed off the floor
pick it up, put it down
Conventional
I'm going to try conventional but I'll probably watch ripptoes vid on YouTube
Trap Bar DLs all day son
Conventional, although I've been known to get down with a little sumo from time to time when I'm hitting the bottle pretty hard.
How many sets and reps?
My two favorites are TRAP- BAR and Clean Deadlift & Shrug. I do these two variations the most.

I love standard deadlifts for overall muscle mass, plus I have found when I am consistenly deadlifting my back pain seems to subsid especially when I am rolling and sparring. For me its hard to really lift super heavy because of 4 herniations so I still push it but make sure to listen to my body, stress technique and make sure to take extra time to warm up and cool down.
Conventional on a stiff bar
Dabbled with sumo in the past but I didn't feel it suited me
Conventional as it builds more strength and muscle. I am very good at pulling sumo and it does fatigue my back much less but the much smaller ROM makes it apparent that even though I can move slightly more weight with sumo that I'm not gaining as much strength.
Since most of my training involves a good amount of volume I also don't always have the patience for the much slower sumo pull.
Always pulled conventional with the odd dabble with sumo. Just ordered a trap bar. It's a mother of a bar with two grip positions and weighs 40kg with extra length for plates.
Excited. I won't be troubling it much weight wise though. Lol.
Does anyone know much about the Barry Ross deadlift program/technique?
I heard Tim Ferriss talking about it and was wondering if any of you have tried it?
For years I've only done sumos, and never to heavy, due to a messed up lumbar, a long torso and tree arms.
New gym has a trap bar. Think I may have to give it a go.
I assume your feet should be placed so that the handles are in the centre of them?
