A rubber match might be a possibility, but since the general concesus is that Shogun also won the first fight, I don't see that happening any time soon.
So the obvious question is, what does the UFC do with him now?
Gate keeper?
I agree that seems like the most logical role for him right now. The problem is, who's getting past him for a shot at Shogun?
One of the more interesting matchups for Rua right now would be Rashad, but he got smeared by who is now the #2 guy. Of course Lil Nog would be interesting for him, imo... but if Machida wins we may never get to see what could be a great rematch between Shogun and Mini Nog.
Anderson will likely be in the picture before long as well.
They should toss Forest at Shogun just so he can avenge his loss and get a highlight KO.
In addition to Gate Keeper they can keep Machida around to take out any one who pisses off Dana White. How cool would it have been for Machida to move up to heavy weight and destroy Kimbo
Even better can you imagine Dana's thought process if fighting Machida = no title.
Dana to Chuck "Why you mad dogging me, I'm not a judge..That's it, you're not fighting Tito in the finale your fighting Machida".
machida v griffin...winner gets back in title picture against whoever is around #1 contender at the time
id like to see shogun put one on Rampage again

Forest has no chance against Machida. Give him Shogun so Shogun
1. gains tons of fans
2. redeems his loss
SHOGUN VS. LITTLE NOG
MACHIDA VS. COUTURE.
Funny how Machida is just written off now. Yes, because Shogun has such a unbeatle aura about him. People going into another dream mode and thinking Shogun era is gonna last for years. So maybe we wait a bit more before giving out the honorable gatekeeper duties? In the time that Machida goes another winning streak and back in the deserved title shot Shogun mihgt not even be the champ anymore.
I say give Shogun a crown and call him king. Coming from pride every one thought he would never lose than Forest wrecked him and all we could say was damn. It felt like watching the challenger fall to shit from the sky. Sure it could have happened just wasn't supposed to..
Now he's rehabbed the knee and looks like Shogun of old things should be back on track.
Machida will own Randy, it won't be close. How do you see it being a good fight?
Thunderlips The Ultimate Male - That division is not really stacked with talent. Machida will be fine and back in a title fight in no time.
My point exactly. I don't see too many guys in the LHW division getting past him. And even when he does get another crack at the title--which I don't think will be any time soon--Shogun looks to be his Kryptonite. For me, this kind of leaves Machida out there in no man's land.
lhw is their most loaded division
LW-there is edgar and penn(neither are unbeatable)
WW-GSP....................then abunch of guys he has beat
MW-Silva, wandy and Vitor........after that Sonnen??? terrible
HW-Brock, Carwin, JDS, Cain....all 4 havent been around long enough to know what to make of them
LHW-Shogun, Machida, Evans, Rampage, Lil Nog, Bones Jones, and after that there are guys like Couture and Forrest that make for interesting fights
though i still think King Mo and Mousasi are equally as good as those guys
I'd say HW is their most stacked division.
As for LHW, Bones isn't getting a title fight for a while. I've covered the possibilities with Rashad and Lil Nog. Another Rampage/Shogun fight would be worth seeing, but I'm not too sure he's getting past Rashad, which would de-value that fight altogether.
their HW guys havent been around long enough to really tell...it does have the most potential though
HW is stacked, problem is Fedor doesn't fight in the UFC so that always raises the question, are they the best heavy weights not named Fedor lol.
I think Pen is unstoppable at 155...when he trains hard
penn is overrated....melendez, alvarez, and kawajiri would all beat him
the lw division is weak
Didn't Shogun socker kick him into oblivion?
"penn is overrated....melendez, alvarez, and kawajiri would all beat him"
Like usual your smoking cock...No way they would beat him..
Alvarez is good but at 155 no one is a good match for BJ when he trains.
His only loss at 155 is to Pulver who he dismantled in a rematch.
what about to edgar? and at that point everyone dismantled pulver...
I still don't see how Edgar beat Penn, even with Penn being noticeably off.
