What the espn/UFC deal means for the consumer...

As of 2019 roughly 4 out of  5 fights will essentially be commercial free... that’s right you dumb dumbs... you’ll get the walkouts... fast pacing, etc...

You’re gonna want more ufc not less... you’re gonna go back to daydreaming about the ufc...refusing blow jobs because the main event is starting....

That sounds cool.  Why would they do commercial free?

Because roughly 4 out of 5 fights will either be on a streaming platform or ppv.

ok so 4/5 fights will be behind a paywall then

Main fox was the only over the air free to customers platform. Everything else costs. Literally paying to watch commercials. That was the reason the fox deal was important.

So is ESPN +  international?  and costs?

5 quid/fortnight.

Deal for the USA but everyone will benefit from the quicker pace of the events all over the world.

the live arena experience will also be a lot better.

Logic, any predictions on if UFC re-ups with BT Sport in the U.K. or TSN in Canada?

Heard a theory today that speculated that the reason that Endeavor bought NeuLion and the reason that they ultimately decided not to sell their PPV content as part of the new domestic rights deal with ESPN is that they plan to change Fight Pass to be similar to the WWE model where all of their live PPV events would be available at, say, $15-$20 per month. They might still offer to sell traditional residential PPVs with distributors that wanted to partner with them but the idea would be that most PPV content would be consumed through their network, which they now own outright.

closer to 29.95/mo.

UFC will still find a way to slow the pacing to a turtle’s walk.

I'll watch them all for free, commercial free or not.  $30 a month is ridiculous to pay.  Paying another 5-10 a month for ESPN, plus 10 a month for fight pass is also ridiculous.

$50 a month to watch all the UFC programming, that's fucking crazy.  I predict this move starts a heavy spiral downward for the UFC unfortunately.

damn only 4 or 5 of the 12 or so bouts will be commercial free?? I can bet pretty confidently it wont be any of the bouts I tune in for. It will almost certainly be the first few bouts of the night in front of a near empty arena. Get your program handy because no one will know any of these women, midgets ,TUFers, or locals making their UFC debut, (except their families and girlfriends). Yippie for progress and advancement from UFC!

Thank you and best wishes to you as well. Yes I did the math. If 4 of 5 are commercial free and there’s 13 bouts on the event, I concluded 4 or 5 of the 13 are commercial free, leaving 8 or 9 (likely the bouts we all want to see) not free of commercials.
