vintage Rampage is so exciting and dominating ... did Wand take his spirit .. or was it the conversion? I want to see him steamroll the UFC 205 division like he did in Pride (til Wand)
A reverse exorcist?
Nah seriously, if he gets another fight or two before Chuck, I think he'll be good as new.
from what I recall, randy used the same game plan a few months earlier and outboxed the iceman and took him down at will. Rampage followed the same gameplan.
We all saw in Lidell vs. Couture 2,3 what happens when the Iceman fixes the holes in his game.
Chuck wins via TKO in the second.
First, when did Rampage "steamroll" through pride? Was it when Sakuraba tapped him? Was it when he won the 205 title? Rampage is not a dominant fighter when it comes to W/L category. Rampage is a DANGEROUS fighter, but not dominant.
Rampages first fight ever against a top level fighter (assuming you don't count his fight with Eastman) was against Sakuraba, and he gave Sak all he wanted.
Rampage is a dominant fighter. To get ko'd by Silva isn't that unheard of...
funny bringing up Sak fight ... his first fight in a major MMA org and against the hottest fighter at the time. And gave Sak all he could handle. From there ... wins over Igor, Liddell, Randleman, Bustamante, Arona, ect ... and the wins were highlight reel slams, knockouts. Its easy to forget after the Wand & Rua losses ...

- I disagree. Rampage did NOT use the same gameplan as Randy.
Randy used more technically sound straight-punch boxing to beat Chuck to the punch. He out-techniqued Chuck standing up, kept him off-balance for takedowns, Chuck kept just standing right back up, and then repeat process until Randy mounted and stopped him.
Rampage slugged it out with Chuck. He basically out-Chucked Chuck. I was expecting Chuck to win the same way in which Rampage actually ended up winning.
Both guys were slinging looping haymakers. Everything was power punching. Just turned out, much to my surprise, that Rampage could take Chuck's, but Chuck couldn't take Rampage's. Technically not at all like what Randy did to Chuck (out-boxed him, not out-powered him).
With that said, my suspicion is that Rampage is not the same fighter he was back then. He took 3 brutal beatings from Chute Boxe, the last 2 being particularly devastating and potentially spirit-breaking. Rampage's confidence was noticeably fractured after the Shogun fight.
In the meantime, Chuck on the other hand has stayed successfully active.
But I guess we'll see if Rampage is permanently gunshy or not when he faces Chuck again.
lol @ chuck has no muay thai clinch ... and qj does ??? qj has some of the worst muay thai defence in the game
this isnt 20002 or 2003 ... chuck is on fire at the moment & qj is stellar imo
qj will chase chuck & chuck will drop him like nothing
ttt
when has chuck been ko'd ?
how can people think that "pride" rampage is gonna show up ?
he is not ready for chuck ... chuck will whip his ass imo
QJ did an awesome job of counterpunching in the Pride fight ... Chuck was constantly getting tagged after throwing his combos. It was a total domination in every respect by Rampage.

Quinton needs to come in great shape to beat him again. He needs to impose his will with underhooks and pace and make Chuck tired.
