Belcher is the one I think could get it, he was close to making a run at a shot before he got hurt, now he is back, a slot vs Maia who he was gonna fight before he got hurt now on a main Fox card, a win gets him right back in the mix with guys like Vitor, Munoz etc. I think his people should be on the phone right now begging for this fight.

It's not about damage, it's about the training cycle and peaking at the right time at the highest level. 3 weeks is a very quick turn around...it is very risky, the difference between fighting Massenzio and Damian Maia is vast. Damaian Maia is a different animal on the ground and I very much doubt he will be leg locking Maia, not saying he cant win but....anyway point is 3 weeks ? I doubt Palarahas will be taking the fight

I think this is slightly more likely. ^ Turn around is the same but I think Vitor would be more confident in taking a fight with such a quick turn around.

Didn't Vitor get a little nicked up in that fight? I'm guessing he might get a minimal medical suspension that would negate him taking the fight. Just speculating.

Against someone with a 1-3 UFC record. Akiyama and Maia aren't in the same ball park.
I'd love to see Maia vs Paul Harris as much as anyone else, but Maia on 3 weeks notice probably isn't in his best interests, however, only Palhares himself knows that better than any of us.

Apparently they are trying to make Maia v Tree Stump. I cant imagine him accepting a turnaround that quickly, but then again Leben did it and he will always be looked favourably upon for it.
