Renzo Gracie? Chokes a guy unconscious then stomps the back of his neck yet the majority of the UG will justify his behavior because Ben Spikjers asked for it.
Royce Gracie holds an armlock on Jason Delucia, far more damaging than holding a choke a few extra seconds, but the majority of the UG will defend that too. "Delucia deserved it, he trained with the Gracies, blah, blah blah..."
BJ Penn holds a choke on admits he held on purpose but that's OK? Why? because they hugged? Like that negates BJ holding the choke. Kizer see's that as different? Because Heath was unconscious? Pulver tapped a lot faster than Heath did too. So what's the difference?
Kid Yamamoto pounds his opponents even as the ref tries to pull him off and there is no condemnation of his actions. A few mention it here and there, but its not an issue.
WHY is Babalu different? Why is the forum virtually split down the middle, with some being as extreme as saying Babalu should be charged with assault or banned from competing? Please!!!
All it takes is a guy like Kizer, with a fancy title from an athletic commission and the sheep will follow. It's like the fucking Milgrim Experiment.
Give Babalu his money back admonish him and hold consistent standard for EVERYONE from this point on!!!!
"Dave, Babalu only held it for 3.5 seconds at the most... The majority of the idiots in here are counting from the time Heath tapped, not from the second Steve tapped on Babalu to let Heath go. 99% of fighters WILL NOT let go of a choke until the ref taps them...
CONGRATS TO BABALU ON THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
You see it happen a lot. Fighters often hold the choke. David Heath is tough as nails and waited fought the choke as long as he could. Probably why he went out from the few extra seconds.
Seriously all you need is an authority figure to condemn somebody and people will follow. I doubt Kizer knows the difference between a rear naked choke and an anaconda or the effectiveness of each.
What's the difference between Babalu and...

Brennan, Renzo, Royce, Kid, Gomi, Ryan, Almedia, Penn, etc. As I have said before this is nothing new. Punish it sure but lets not suddenly act like Sobral is satan incarnate. Also let the punishment fit the infraction.
What BJ did was wrong but not Babalu's went further.
Kid has been vilified for that for years, and rightfully, he was way out of line, lol at here and there, some people still wont let that go and Kid's sportsmanship has increased tons recently.
I dont see the need for discussion or defence here: Babalu was blatantly out of line. There is no defence for you what he did. What is wrong with you people?
I agree with Hubris, there is no need for any more discussion on this, Babalu just needs to be fined and we need to move on.
The NSAC does not want fighters holding onto locks as retribution so they are now going to hammer guys for it. Babalu just happened to be "that guy" who did it when pappa decided to make an example.
The answer is... listen to the ref and you will go home with your money.
double standard no matter how its rationalized. but the only important opinion in this matter is that of david heath...whats his opinion ? has he released a statement on the matter ? maybe he doesnt care...maybe he does..at this point who cares.
