Pick yourself up, figure out where you went wrong with the interview or what weakness was on your resume. I'm always optimizing myself for the last job I didn't get. Just like a loss makes you better in sports so does a miss when job hunting. Phone Post 3.0

Yeah it sux, but you will now learn not to get your expectations too high. Apply for as many jobs as possible and keep doing it.

I hate my current job of 15 years, just this year I've probably applied for 20-30 jobs and have had one interview out of the lot of them. It all comes down to timing, you just need to be the right person at that particular time, which is why you can't stop trying. Phone Post 3.0

That is some sound advice. Have my daily VU Phone Post 3.0

i've done my share of interviewing. goal #1 of the interview is to determine if the candidate would work well in the role. i know they want the job and think they can do it, but are they the right person for it? sometimes it just takes one statement like, "im very detailed oriented" to tell the interviewer you would be an awful candidate because it's a big picture type of job (or the other way around).

it's quite possible you would have ended up in a worse situation. keep your head up. the right thing will come along.

That happened to me about 4 years ago. I thought I had the job for sure and then they offered it to some chick who was completely, 100% unqualified for the job. She of course proceeded to fuck everything up, lasted 9 months, then they agreed to "mutually" part ways.

Keep your head up, dont let your work suffer, and keep on searching.

My first year down in TX, I walk into my first day in a new sales office. I ask my manager who their top guy is and let him know that I'll blow his numbers to shit in 2 months or less. Did it in 3 weeks.

Fast forward a year, Im leading my own team and my managers and the client all wanted me running ship with them. Higher ups gave it to a woman who had just gotten there from the Philly office and had no experience with the client whatsoever. Within a month she lost the client and we were all fucked. Like out of work fucked in some cases. Half my team got canned and I got moved to a shit project making shit money.

I had an interview in Dec of last year. I was sure I was going to land this job right after I graduated. It was a panel interview with 3 people. They tell me "really great answer there" during the interview. One of the guys is escorting me out of the building and asks me if I'm interested in the job and if I feel it's for me. Two months later, I get an email saying I didn't get the job.

Dude its happened to all of us. I'm a security officer. I've been a security officer for the past 3+ years. Been looking for another job for like the last 2. Been rejected by every other job I've wanted and DIDN'T want. I've had to stay at the same dead end place and deal with a bunch of B.S. but of course, can't just quit until something else is lined up and JUST RECENTLY, I got offered a job at a hospital for hospital security.

Because I stuck it out at the place I was at, the hospital said because of my experience 3+ years and certifications/qualifications they made me an offer. Now I'm getting a 5 dollar raise, I will be getting hospital employee benefits, better/more hours, I used to work overnight 12 hour shifts, and now I'll be working 8 hour shifts from 2pm to 10pm. I had JUST broken up with my girl and the good news could not have come at a better time. I was miserable, tired of being broke, having to bum off my friends and family. NOW I'll be able to treat and take care of everybody else.

Just hang in there, keep plugging. Make the best of your situation.

This happened to me years ago. I was a solid candidate for the position as I came from the same background they were looking to fill and they instead hired someone from a different field for the position mostly because she worked with someone they kind of knew. She knocked around for a while, but she was completely unprepared for the stakes and a few of the people around her lost their jobs or fell behind on the partnership track because of her. she lasted one year and was gone.

But that experience taught me that I needed to make my own money, and not to rely on other people to make it for you.

You live and you learn.

One thing I can advise, and I know everyone says it, but talk to people in the field you want to get into, these are the guys that will know about job openings and these are the guys that will get you over humps in the application process.

Well at least you are not alone in this boat. Same shit happened to me. Phone Post 3.0

I got passed up for a promotion. I thought I was ready for the next step up! Sucked up my pride and learned what I needed to get it next time. Over the time I learned I wasn't ready. Now I am though. The guy is about to switch to another position and I'll have my go at it again.

Good luck! Just keep learning how to improve your skills the time will come. Phone Post 3.0
