Where are Tito's fans now?

I remember the days of a couple years when three-forths of this forum was hooked on Tito's jock. I would post one simple derogatory comment about Tito, and I'd get 20 freakin trolls jumping on my case about how Tito is "the greatest" and "a cardio machine", and that he'll be the champ for years to come. Some even suggested that he'd defeat Vitor Belfort.

Seems like there is very little loyalty in this sport with the exception of the few hardcore fans.

this issue has been addressed a few times, by me too, oh yes, by me too

but I posted this opinion before he won a lame five round decision to a relative unknown

I guess me, my brother, and everyone in my house are hardcore then because Tito IS the reason we paid for this UFC and we are happy with the results. Its called loyalty. You are obviously loyal to trying to trash Tito because I have fought your dumb ass tooth and nail for the last two years on the subject, but hey everyone has the right to their opinion. Unfortunately for you, your opinion is wrong.

You gotta admit that he was by far the most boring fight of the event.

raises hand right here. like the guy or not, he's brought the sport more publicity than 90% of MMA fighters combined, and despite the trash talk always seems to be first to raise his hand for media interviews etc etc despite the impact it has on his own training time leading up to the fights.

Chris.

Hes brought more publicity ONLY because Zuffa decided to pour money into him.

If Zuffa put that money into Couture, Lindland, etc, they would have easily been able to bring just as much publicity to the UFC.

Tito IS the reason we paid for this UFC and we are happy with the results. Its called loyalty.

my definition of loyalty would be buying the UFC because i love MMA not to support just one fighter but all of them. but that's my opinion.

I will give Keoni his props, he has been a Tito fan through thick and thin.

However, it is my opinion that his opinion is incorrect.

I think it's the other way around. We are the paying customer that keeps Zuffa in business, they owe us their loyalty by putting on a slightly better show than tonite's....and they should also be loyal to us AMERICAN fans and give us back BJ Penn and give us Couture/Silva....among many other things.

I'm not a Tito fan but Zuffa was successful in marketing him to the public. I watched this UFC at a casino with a small crowd of 50 or so. Three guys I talked to only really knew of Tito. His entrance was the only that got any crowd reaction - 3 30-40ish women all were cheering for him.

and give us Couture/Silva....among many other things.

c'mon everyone knows that is not happening,  (in ufc) it would be great but c'mon

Can you really back that statement up when you consider that the Japanese own about 80% of the world-wide MMA market?

tito was unimpressive.

Tito is still a very good fighter, I think he just forgot it. SPROUT

Horrible performance by Tito tonight. Again an issue of Tito talking too much and not coming through. He got played by Cote and Cote's management. Not that I hold that against Cote but come on!

Uncle, either you don't understand the huge difference between US/Japan MMA, or you are simply referring to MMA in America.

MMA in America is very small compared to MMA in Japan. You know this, right?

Fair enough.

But I still think you are incorrect because PPV-buy figures have shown that Tito/Ken Shamrock was the best sellling fight, yes.

Shamrock alone sells very well, Tito fighting another star does almost as good. However, Tito's draw by himself is relatively weak as shown by the figures.

I think it's fair to say that Tito played a 'role', but if you're talking significant roles, you should be referring to other guys like Ken and Frank Shamrock, Royce Gracie, Randy Couture, and Tank Abbott.
