Would need to see khabib vs Matt Hughes in their primes to determine if Bj would beat khabib or not, difficult to say when they’re in their prime and Bj stayed way to long
I created a poll thread since it seems like the discussion here seems to be around 3 guys. I put it in it’s own thread because I thought that would maximize the votes (instead of burying it a couple hundred posts deep in this thread).
Gomi is in the discussion, obviously Penn, Hansen, Cavalcante. Khabib might be the GOAT LW; I have Penn above him as a LW.
If remaining undefeated means a lot to people then obviously they are going to disagree with me having Penn as #1. Penn fought the upper echelon of his sport from day 1 though.
I think it comes down to how you weight BJ’s heavier fights, and whether you ignore the end of his career. Personally I’m comfortable with both of those things so I’ve got BJ #1 with Charles right behind him. Khabib COULD HAVE been #1 if he’d stuck around… fucking off right in the middle of his career for no good reason really doesn’t sit well with me. Great fighter, but I’d rather leave the GOAT title for a guy who apparently actually liked to fight.
Man, I think Khabib is the GOAT LW. But, the UFC’s HOF isn’t proof of anything. It has no objective criteria. Also, Charles hasn’t retired. He is a sure fire hall of famer.
