Where is Olivera all-time at LW?

As in P4P GOAT?

Thats not entirely fair as Fedor didnt have that many and Khabib’s road to the title was delayed for numerous reasons. Would you not agree that Khabib is at least the LW GOAT at present? Yes Charles could surpass him if he beats Islam but as of now i think Khabib has it.

Why do you keep saying this?

Fedor had an 11 year streak that can take the place of 7 defenses.

No, I don’t think Khabib is the LW GOAT but at least he’s retired so the discussion makes sense.

And Khabib is undefeated, 29-0. However many years of a streak that is. So that doesnt count but Fedor’s streak does?

And if Khabib is not the LW GOAT, who is?

Would need to see khabib vs Matt Hughes in their primes to determine if Bj would beat khabib or not, difficult to say when they’re in their prime and Bj stayed way to long

Benson has 40 fights with 2 losses via strikes, and 2 via submissions. Considering the quality of most of his opposition, very impressive indeed.

I created a poll thread since it seems like the discussion here seems to be around 3 guys. I put it in it’s own thread because I thought that would maximize the votes (instead of burying it a couple hundred posts deep in this thread).

Gomi is in the discussion, obviously Penn, Hansen, Cavalcante. Khabib might be the GOAT LW; I have Penn above him as a LW.

If remaining undefeated means a lot to people then obviously they are going to disagree with me having Penn as #1. Penn fought the upper echelon of his sport from day 1 though.

I think it comes down to how you weight BJ’s heavier fights, and whether you ignore the end of his career. Personally I’m comfortable with both of those things so I’ve got BJ #1 with Charles right behind him. Khabib COULD HAVE been #1 if he’d stuck around… fucking off right in the middle of his career for no good reason really doesn’t sit well with me. Great fighter, but I’d rather leave the GOAT title for a guy who apparently actually liked to fight.

Yes and to add to that young Bj was fighting Matt Hughes and running through guys, where young khabit was barely getting by Gleason tibia

Half of those 29 are against complete unknowns.

BJ. :stuck_out_tongue:

Gotta have Gomi and Kawajiri in the conversation.

Chael said those guys don’t count. Referees with ear pieces…

It was Weidman.

Fair enough. I think he would have ran through Tony, but we’ll never know. I hope Charles beats Islam and Khabib un-retires so we can find out.

Weidman has a great submission game? You must be joking.

Weidman lost that match to Galvao.

I don’t see Khabib’s name on any of these lists…

I dont see any of those guys on this list.

Man, I think Khabib is the GOAT LW. But, the UFC’s HOF isn’t proof of anything. It has no objective criteria. Also, Charles hasn’t retired. He is a sure fire hall of famer.
