Dear Abby ( i mean BJJ forum)
i've been training for 5 years under a great BB BUT..... the hours are really restrictive and the instructor barely teaches the classes i make it to. Or I can go train with a decent purple belt who has much better hours and is always there teaching, he only teaches strict basics though and his students are not as good as the frist place.
I don't want to be a traitor and switch schools but.......
The grass is always greener on the other side. Your training partners have a bigger impact on your growth than the techs you learn in class. Plus, the stigma of "traitor" may cause you problems in the future.
its your money! do what you want with it.
LOL @ "traitor" BS.
Did you swear a blood oath or something?
Everyone deserves to be happy in BJJ. I wouldn't stick around in ANY
failed relationship.
Just remember, loyalty is a reciprocal notion, not a one way street. Make
sure that your instructor is as loyal to YOU as you are to him.
It is not only your money, but your time and your future. Train at the place that makes you happy.
I know what you mean about the hours. We get done training at 930-10pm and most of us can't sleep and have to get up for work early.
In general, not just BJJ, it often helps to think long term. 3-5 years from now will you have been better off where you are or where you are thinking of going?
Also, if you make a change respect the people who might be affected. Explain your problem with the hours to your instructor and ask for his advice.
