Haha, have I offended already? xD Just another buddy who was stationed out there. Phone Post

Most asked question by a tourist in the 90's: Is that Mauna Kea?
"No, it's Bruddah Iz."

Check out the Hawaii Martial Arts Center (HMC) in the Kalihi area. This mma school has been in existence for 10-plus year's. Top rated muay thai, boxing, and jujitsu (Nova Uniao) classes. When BJ Penn is in Honolulu that's where he trains...

ChinoV - You might be interested to try and trane Hawaiian jew-jitsu, we got the only blackbelt in HJJ on our island. Quote?

Thanks again all. I will try to check them all out. I am a very loyal guy so when I pick a spot, that's home, you know? Phone Post

It's like picking a women... Try them all out and find the one the "fits" you.  Besides they are all free for the test drive.

Alright, leaving next week.  Got a list of good gyms to check out.  Already heard back from Leben's team but not sure I can do their hours.  I will check it out regardless.  Others are: 808 Fight Factory, 808 Top Team (are they same?), HMC, UFC/Penn gym if open, and KTeam.  Can't wait to get with a solid team and get out on another pro card right away.  Thanks again all.

Don't forget to show respect man. It's all about respect in Hawaii. So in order for people to respect you:

1. NEVER EVER break eye contact. Especailly when they're asking you "wotchufaka?" It's a Samoan endearment-based term of respect. Maintain eye contact, stretch both arms outward- palms up, politely receive the respect.

2. You better be on your A-game entering any gym. If you don't destroy the 1st able body you're sparring/rolling with, you will be labeled a beta. They'll be trying to punk you all day long. Strike first, Strike Hard, Join the Alpha Club.

3.Also don't forget to show variations of the technique the instructor is showing the class. Instructors/students in Hawaii all like to hear variations on the technique that's currently being shown. Don't miss your window to share.

good points!

Yeah, I hear in Hawaii you have to add to everything the instructor says or you just don't rate.  I'll make sure to read lots of magazines to share the 1-2-3 punch combos in there, critical stuff IMO!

woah. green namer.

probably best met at Lebens.
