9800 pro definitely.

#2 9800 Pro

ur buying some good shit then gonna kill urself with an Inetl CPU

Booooooooooooooo

AMD64 3400 is the bets overall CPU going at the moment

You and your damn AMD jockriding :)

Tyler, the next gen cards from both ati and nvidia will be out in 2 weeks. I would recommend that you wait until they come out as they will be much faster, but more importantly, the prices of current top cards will drop dramatically.

IF you have to buy a card now, go with the 9800pro and flash it to a a 9800xt! That's what I'd do anyways.

I just had a few quick questions about the rest of my config...

First off, my friend said that my hard drive would work quicker if I just got 2 80gig SATA drives instead and ran them with RAID 0. Is this true?

Second, would I be better off geeting this -

ABIT K8T800 Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket 754 CPU, Model "KV8-MAX3" -RETAIL - $142
and
AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1 MB L2 Cache, the Only 64-bit Windows Compatible Processor - OEM - $270

Instead of

ABIT i875P Chipset Motherboard for Intel Socket 478 CPU, Model "IC7-MAX3" -RETAIL - $190
and
Intel Pentium 4/ 3.0E GHz 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, Hyper Threading Technology - $255

Third question is this fan/heatsink good(if I go AMD)?
ALPHA Heatsink and Fan for Opteron and Athlon64 CPU, Model "PAL8150-M81" -RETAIL

Finally since Gabora mentioned that prices will be dropping soon on video cards I think I will go with

SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9800PRO Video Card, 256MB DDRII, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, Model ULTIMATE RADEON 9800 PRO (Possibly XT depending on how low prices go)

depending on how much prices drop. Also, does anyone know when PCI Express is coming out? If it comes out soon the prices for some of the stuff I want to buy will probably drop.

Thanks for all your help.

LOL @ fin hehehe

i know i know, i ride the AMD bandwagon like no other, LOL

so use to it now cause it really gets on one of the sales reps at the compnay i work at, i sell lots of shit, he fingers his ass, so i like to rub the A535 in so it burns and burns muhahahaha

Hey, Jerkie, you'd probably shit if you met my good friend's dad, Marty Seyer. He's some big shot at AMD here in Austin. By the way, I'm getting a couple AMD64 processors for free, lol.

alpo, i'll buy one.

Sorry, bro, they're already spoken for. I'll keep you in mind if I can get any more, though.

i have the AIW 9800 pro and LOVE it

"....I run 4 15,000 rpm Cheeatas on RAID 10 and have ran them on RAID 0 also until I lost one of the drives and all my data with it."

Man, you must be able to view LARGE amounts of porn really really fast. j/k mate, those are some crazy fast drives. I've seen a good jump just going from 2mb to 8mb cache but you take the cake.

lol. what are your other specs? p4 or amd64?
