At the post-fight conference, President Dana White confirmed that Miesha Tate has regained the number one contender spot, setting up a possible third fight with Ronda Rousey:

Following Tate’s (17-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) win over Jessica Eye (11-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 16, UFC President Dana White confirmed that Tate had regained No. 1 contender status and would face the winner of the UFC 190 main event between UFC women’s bantamweight champion Rousey (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and challenger Correia (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC).
“Yeah, she is (No. 1 contender),” White said at the post-fight press conference. “You know, Miesha is such a durable human being. She will stand in front of you and take what you’ve got. Because she was getting picked apart in that first round. She keeps coming forward to land what she has to land or get you to the ground or do what she has to do to win. She did it again tonight. She has worked her way back to Ronda Rousey.”
That's with the assumption that Ronda is already the winner. If Ronda managed to lose this fight, Tate would not be fighting the winner. Ronda would get an immediate rematch.
It's not like there's an abundance of meaningful matchups. Tate is the only one to take Rousey deep. They have a long history of animosity. We would finally see Brian Caraway go nuts in the corner. Who exactly is a better matchup??
I love watching Tate fights. She has a real warrior spirit, she let Ronda break her arm in the first fight and took her deeper than anyone else has in the second fight. She never gives up, she looked to be in trouble last night up till the time she landed the big right.
I'd prefer to watch Tate v Rousey every six months than Rousey v "Can" every six months. I'm all for the trilogy fight.
Miesha Tate is one tough SOB. She really is. She has taken some beatings and even had her arm broke in half and didn't tap. Had her eye orbital broken in multiple places and still came back to beat McMann. And she can fight. She comes in to throw down and has very good grappling skills. Without Ronda we would all be saying how badass a champ she is. No matter what, I have respect for her and am a fan.
