Dana White: It's the fastest growing sport in the world and it's going to be the biggest sport in the world.

Rachel Crane: If the president of the United States wanted to come to your event tomorrow (UFC 159)?

Dana White: I'm not kidding you...We couldn't seat Obama. He'd have to sit on my lap.

Rachel Crane: Do you wish we were seating in Madison Square Garden right now?

Dana White: For me personally, to be sitting in Madison Square Garden holding an event, it's a personal milestone, achievment, another thing we've accomplished in the sport.

10 pages of people bashing soccer and MMA easily Phone Post 3.0

In love with MMA, but no way it ever even passed the NFL, IMO Phone Post 3.0

it wont be the biggest sport, but UFC will be one of the most valuable sports leagues in the world. It's already pretty much the most valuable sports franchise in the world.

manchester united is worth around 2.6 billion which is the most valuable sports franchise in the world. The UFC is right around there if not more and they havent even scratched the surface globally.

They just got a chinese deal done which is huge. The mexico deal they announced is pretty big... their deals with Globo and Fox will be worth even more once the current deals run out....

there's still most of the eu which they havent even started on yet... russia, etc...

the UFC subscription channel could be a monster.

MMA is well on it's way on becoming the most popular combat sport (it already is in many countries).

But becoming the biggest sport in the world... surpassing soccer? I dunno abut that.

Remember when he said "we're neck and neck with soccer"? Maybe in the U.S, Dana, but you aren't even fucking close globally and you never will be. Phone Post 3.0

Too many pussies for that to happen.
I would love it, but no, it won't be.
However, it is #1 for me. Phone Post 3.0

If he's saying this as BS marketing, then it wont.

If White firmly believes that, then with that drive and ambition, it might happen.

It simply has no chance to pass Soccer, NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL.

This thread didn't need anything more than the first comment.
Does Dana genuinely believe what he's saying?
I hope MMA becomes as big as possible, but I can't see it becoming the biggest sport in the US, let alone the world. Phone Post 3.0

It's not going to happen, but kudos to Dana for aiming high. No one ever accomplished anything great by setting their sights low. I'm sure guys like Bill Gates and Sam Walton got laughed at too for their goals back in the day. He who laughs last, laughs best.

yay this meet and greet made TV too lmao.

The one in Vegas last year was on Fuel :)

Chaelismyhero - No it wont.

As others have said, props to Dana for shooting high. But he is as high as giraffe pussy if he believes MMA has a chance to overtake soccer.

Countries have taken a time out on their motherfucking WARS to play a game of soccer against each other.

If Dana expects MMA to get big any where near as big as the major league sports, they need to take it off PPV and make it easily accessible on regular TV like virtually all the big sports.

wink91wink - It simply has no chance to pass Soccer, NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL.
Worldwide it's probably pushing NFL and NHL already.

Those are, and will forever be, niche sports on the world stage. Phone Post 3.0

I'd like to know for sure. Because if someone asked me I would say its still light years behind the NFL Phone Post 3.0

Football (Soccer) AINEC

It plays second fiddle to boxing here in the UK. Can't see that changing anytime ever.
