Do you even know about the years of training that is needed to become a slap fighting champion? It’s all about the subtleties, the twist of the hips, the motion of the shoulder to the elbow down to the wrist. Then your palm has to be outstretched in a certain way, fingers have to be focused on the target area. All while maintaining your chi.
Yes slap fighting is bullshit. I do enjoy KO clips but it’s a low skill sport if it’s even considered a sport. It’s more like who has the best chin against who slaps hardest. Undefended strikes makes this not very interesting in general. I’m a big BKFC fan though.

Love how Dana is pushing back on the safety aspect of Slapfighting by comparing it to MMA. Apparently this is the same battle he had all those years ago when he was trying to change people’s perception of cage fighting.
One major difference…
Martial Arts - in some form - has existed since 2000BC. Kids, teenagers and adults train and practice different forms of it for fitness, competition and recreation. All the pieces of the puzzle were there, Zuffa just packaged it in a more palatable way.
Slapfighting - however you want to dress it - is a joke. It’s a spectacle for this current generation of brainless, social media twats: nothing more, nothing less. Doesn’t matter how you try to dress it (shame on NSAC for getting behind it), it’s not a sport and never will be. It’s a dumb schoolyard game.

Standing there and slapping each other has to be the dumbest “sport” or competition out there.
If Dana wanted to put money into something, I wish he had put it into arm wrestling. It’s really growing now and has great characters in it and needs skills and technique.

There is not athletic competition to it.
It’s about who can take more damage purposefully.
I would prefer BLAF out his money into reviving boxing.

I don’t get this “sport” at all. If they are looking for something with more action, KOs, etc., why not something like modified boxing with small gloves and elbows in a very small ring so combatants essentially have to go toe to toe? That could be exciting, have lots of KOs, but would still have skill, strategy, and allow combatants to defend themselves rather than just taking full power shots to the face with zero defense.
How incredibly blessed are we? 200,000 years of human evolution and we’re lucky enough to witness Power Slap and Velma premier in the same week.
