<p>They say getting to the UFC is the easy part. Staying in the UFC is the hard part. The best way to make sure you stay in the UFC, of course, is to just keep winning. But fighting hard and putting on a great show goes a long way, especially with UFC President Dana White:</p>
“He’s 0-3, and he’s not going anywhere,” White said after the event. “He took the Robbie Lawler fight on short notice, and tonight he was busted up and keeps moving forward, keeps trying to win.”
In that three-fight series, Voelker displayed the toughness that earned him a UFC contract. It’s also earned him a reprieve for now.
I've learned to translate Dana-isms over the years, and he's covering up for the real reason which is; "and we can still get away with paying Voelker peanuts."

yeah, that makes a lot of sense. He got his reasons, but stop trying to bullshit us.
okami and Fitch arent walking punching bags like Volker... Okami and Fitch are blankets. People dont like to watch the latter. The problem is guys like fitch and okami get boring wins which means they get paid more than a guy like volker... so you end up having to pay more to guys who people dont want to watch so you have to cut them faster.
if you try to get wins by gaming the system then you're more expendable to Zuffa.
if you're not fighting in a fight nobody wants to watch it. if you're stalling and running down the clock by trying to hold your opponent down or against the cage or by running around not engaging then you're expendable.

UFC wants to be considered a real sport, when you do subjective shit like that it doesn't help your cause.
and that's totally retarded that they would use the fighter's salaries against them, guys have to grind HARD to increase their pay by winning shitloads of fights... so you work your way up and then they fire you because you are too expensive?
The only way average fighters can increase their pay is by winning fights and then they get small increments in their pay... but then they become too expensive?
