Whites Excuse for Machidas shot

Although I don't agree with any of these four fighters getting a instant title shot, I really don't agree with Dana's decision. I think there should be a contender match between Rua and Machida, especially since you can say Rua got the better of Machida twice (depending how you saw the first fight).

Here's what Dana said about his decision:

Leading up to this fight, 'Shogun' did turn down a fight," White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "'Shogun' has not been terrorizing me for another shot at Jon Jones. Lyoto Machida has. Lyoto Machida wants it."

IMO you can't blame Rua for turning down that fight its a lose lose for him, if he wins he was supposed to giving his " Legendary" status in the sport, if he losses, its because he's old, can't hang anymore, time to retire talks etc...

Why didn't Dana offer this fight to Machida? I know they train together, is that the reason? If so Dana once again is being hypocritical, after the crap he gave Fitch and Koscheck, I don't see why not try Glover vs. Machida. Or could it be that they know Rua and Rampage are on the way out, and he wouldn't dare put Machida in that situation where his stock would plummet with a ugly loss to Glover.

Dana says Machida wants it more, that his management has been terrorizing him about a shot, and that's also the reason, understandable, my only question is why was Glover vs. Machida not proposed? Phone Post

legendary inconsistency. lol

The fans voted Machida as most impressive on twitter last night. Phone Post

That twitter thing is a bag of dicks. They started it before the fights even started.

And? Is that why we have rankings? So Fox Newbs can decide who looked better. Tito clipped Bader too. I've been saying Bader has horrible standup since his TUF days. It hasn't gotten any better. Don Frye put it best when he said "Bader can't punch his way out of a paper bag."

So we are giving contender status to someone who had an easier matchup last night, and lost to Rua. OK. But I get it, its cause Rua wouldn't fight Glover. Phone Post

Should have made this a mini tourney with glover instead of Vera. Phone Post

Yep I think that was the plan with Rua/Glover but the UFC did not want to make Machida/Glover after Rua turned down Glover. #MyTinFoilHatTheory Phone Post

I thought Shoguns performance was more impressive because I look at several factors and not just 1 clean shot that landed right on the button. To me that doesn't prove a fighter is superior because we don't know if it is duplicatable. It is safe to say after watching Shogun vs Vera Shogun beats him 10 out of 10 times because he took Veras best shots and outclassed him. Bader went in, misjudged the distance and timing and got caught on the button. Congrats to Machida but I don't take much away from that fight.

With that said, I do think he matches up better against Jones because he doesn't need to close as much distance as Shogun does to be effective

I also think Machida has the tools to beat Jones. I think Shogun would struggle again with Jones, but that's not to say he doesn't deserve a shot.

I completely agree with you that Machida didn't prove much, same shot Tito landed. Bader with his blitzkrieg style leads himself right into counters. Shogun went to war with a standup specialist and KO'd him. Shogun got ripped off... Phone Post

Most impressive finish got the shot. Period. Phone Post
