Who Are The Most Marketable Fighters Right Now?

I watched the Diaz Condit fight with some newbie fans and they were really invested in this fight. They had watched all the Primetime stuff and were really into it.

These guys are generally very casual fans but they seem intrigued with Diaz. I'm trying to think of other fighters that can generate this level of interest with casual fans and hardcore fans alike.

Every heavyweight champ except Big Tim is/was hugely marketable. Most recently Brock, Cain, now JDS. Those guys are always huge draws.

Others:
Wanderlei
BJ
Chael
Bisping
Anderson Silva (Brazil)
Koschek
practically the entire LHW division

the list goes on IMO

Right now? Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz.

Bisping
Bisping

and Bisping

Overeem is almost there

Show them the likes of meisha Tate, felice herrig etc. !!! Phone Post

How is GSP not the first on these lists ....

Women want him and guys want to be him. He could be the most marketable fighter the UFC has ever had.

Im surprised Shogun isn't marketed more heavily.. He brings it every single time, is practically a legend, and was a model in brazil Phone Post

In order to market a fighter, he has to be the kind of guy who goes on a tear without losing. JBJ, Ando and GSP have all done it and will continue to do it. Too many other top guys win 2, then lose 1, fans don't trust that a fighter with that kind of record is really that good.

Brock was a whole different thing; he was the great MMA unknown. People (mostly casuals) watched to see if the WWE gorilla would overpower lifelong martial artists (I know that's not accurate, but it's how it was percieved.)

I agree that Diaz is pretty marketable but in a way he is not as well because he would be hard to market on fox for the UFC. He can really throw a wrench in them attempting to market him.

Did someone really put Koscheck as a marketable fighter?! Yikes ...

1- GSP
2- JBJ
3- Anderson Silva
4- Heavyweight Championship Fights
5- Lower Tier: (Can't quite be the star on their own yet, or are on the downside of their careers ... Diaz, Frankie, Chael, Faber, Hendo, BJ, Vanderlei, Shogun ... And I hate myself for typing this ... Bisping ... I feel dirty.) Phone Post

Judging by some of the answers in this thread it's clear that people either don't understand what marketable means, or just type their favorite fighter's name any time there is a question.

Nick Diaz is a good marketing idea if you want to lose public support.

Guys the whole idea behind Marketing is to make MORE people want to watch. Wether you like it or not a foul mouth, open pot smoker with a chip on his shoulder is the LAST thing advertisers want.

Yes this. Also keep an eye on stipe Miocic. He's very fan friendly, humble, intelligent and obviously a great talent in the best division to be noticed. Doesn't hurt that he will also appeal to fans overseas. I feel after he beats DeFries, the Stipe hype train will be on its way. Phone Post

The number is dwindling, that is for sure. They need to make stars out of Diaz, Overeem, and Jones (who is well on his way) to replace the losses of Penn, Lesnar, Liddell, Ortiz, Couture.

It's what the public want

No its not ... its perhaps what the lowest common denominator wants.

As a father, martial artist and law abiding citizen I dont want the image of street thug druggie to be impowered and made cool. Its everything a real martial artist stands against.

Morals, hard work and dicipline are what a pro anything should represent

Anderson is fucking huge in brazil, has over a million followers on twitter

jds and aldo are blowing up in brazil

Cynical matchmaking and undeserved title shots and they can make a crop of new stars. It worked before.
