Who else plans to leave the US?

Not a if Trump/Biden wins question. Who plans to either leave the US and live and work abroad or to retire and leqve the US to live somewhere else.

Right now i am leaning heavily towards retirement in Portugal with Panama also a consideration.

My issues with the US?
Cost of living
Cost of health care
Bang for your buck in this country i am paying taxes and what am i getting in exchange? Open borders, rising crime, inflation government institution pushing woke agendas and attempting to curtail long standing rights.

I have no desire to contribute to all of this and all the other insanity.

At least the US has pockets of freedom like Wyoming, Montana, Oklahoma. Not gonna find that anywhere else. Amd don’t forget Major League Baseball.

I’m not

I have the US system figured out.

There’s no place on earth like the US for making money.

Play your cards right and the govt will help set you up.

Not planning to try and start over anywhere else

The Golden Visa route to Portugal is closing up. It was terrific while it lasted.

Not from the US, but we’re definitely planning on snow birding in the future. Too god damn cold up here in Canada during the winter and the older I get the less I want to be in the cold. Not sure if we’re going to go the US south or somewhere like Vietnam where my wife has family. I already spend at least a month between Arizona and California every winter visiting friends and going on golf trips.

Eventually .im still raking it in but if and when it slows down we will start looking

That was never my route why spend 500k on a home when you can get some nice places for far less. Yeah fast track to visa but its not like its hard.

Only when I’m old and done.

Then, maybe a Nordic country. I can sell my house and buy 2 over there for the same money.

I wonder why expats are choosing Portugal? What makes it so special?

For now. I am looking towards the future. Also Wyoming / Montana while beautiful are expensive if you want to live anywhere near any sort of civilization.
Oklahoma is oklahoma thats reason enough not to be there.

Me either thats why i said retirement. Just plan to coast

Low crime, low cost of living, high quality health care, current tax system allows for expats to pay little to no tax for 10 years.
Great food, friendly people good weather.

It was 350k 2 years ago. Could have gotten a nice place in Porto or Algarve.

I plan on buying a nice sized boat and sailing internationally. I’ll ensure it has solar, wind, battery, diesel generator, electric drive, StarLink, and some conveniences.

I hear the culture is VIBRANT!

If Portugal has an open-border policy, allows in tons of “refugees,” and supports DEI, then forget it. I avoid any country that’s keen on “dIVerSity iS oUr sTrenGTh.” That’s why I avoid EU countries e.g. Germany, UK, France, etc.
