I had ir and it sucks. Has actually come back 2x....
i had it on my ass...not fun..i know, wide open for the jokes now...
Well it is a staph infection that is resistant to certain antibiotics depending on the person. The way we treated the Marine Recuits was by using Septra and if that did not work we used Rifampin which was the big gun and worked most of the time.
Almost died from it. Anything you EVER wanna know, lemme know. You'd be suprised how many doctors know so little about it.
FACT:topical mammal saliva cures staff,yes humans 2

FACT:bigpharma wants u 2 die,if they can make $
10mtncombat - i have had it, the only thing that will cure it is an antibiotic called bactrum
I've had it off and on for the past six years and it is an absolute bitch! Although Bactrim (generic is Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole & is in the Sulfonamides family)is very good and will clear up most staph and MRSA infections, there is a stronger antibiotic called Doxycycline (which is in the Tetracycline group)that I've found works much better.
You can also take Bactroban (generic is Mupirocin) which is a topical cream and place it in the inside of your nostrils as this is where staph &/or MRSA can live. This should be done in addition to an antibiotic regimen. Hope this helps...

my ass-mrsa laughed at the bactrum!
Hey, Do you have to have compromised skin to get mrsa? I workout at a gym where a guy claims he got it, but I didn't get the specifics.
MRSA is a type of staph aureus. It is a royal pain in the ass. Its literally all over the community.....gyms, hospitals, schools, etc. Staph is part of the normal flora of the skin. Even if you wash your hands or use antibacterial soaps, you'll get recolonized very quickly. It gets its name from its ability to break down methicilin antibiotics. Methicilins all have a B-lactam ring. These drugs work on cell wall synthesis of the bacteria. Certain bacteria like MRSA produce and enzyme that destroys B-lactam thus rendering ineffective.
Most of society get MRSA by way of compromised skin (i.e, a cut, scrape, etc). It usually shows up as a boil or furuncle (aka: Spider Bite). Keep up your personal hygiene, and take note of any boils or infected areas of the skin. If a boil pops up, I usualy put some neosporin and do my best to not pop it.
a friend of mine contracted it after surgery.
moved from the bladder to the kidneys and scared the fuck out of everyone.
however, 3 weeks of cipro seems to have done the trick.
Cipro may work, however, athletes should be aware that Cipro weakens tendons, and long term use has been blamed for tendon rupture...this from the 'black box' warnings on the Cipro info insert...

yeah, that was the 2nd sentence out of my buddy's mouth.
but, with mrsa headed toward their kidneys, there really wasn't much choice. some additional reasearch they did cast a little doubt on these findings, but everyone's gonna hold their breath till 4 months is out - that's when the danger of tendon rupture is gone.
