Has anyone heard yet?
Who does Royce train with day in and day out?

Mark Hughes
Rodrigo and Royler Gracie.
Nothing against Royler and Rodrigo, but wouldn't everyone here give Royce MUCH better odds against Hughes if he went to work with Greg Jackson, or Marc Laimon, or Matt Hume or some other elite team that is more up to date on current MMA training?
It's not that Royler and Rodrigo are bad, it's just that it almost always seems like fighters do better when they cross train with guys from other teams.
Ideally I'd like to see Royce spend the next 3 months in Oregon with Team Quest. If he did that I might even consider him the favorite over Matt Hughes.
"Hughes would suffer the same fate as Ken"
Nah, if BJM pulls a bullshit stoppage like that there will be a fucking riot
I really hope they bring in a great wrestler and Royce needs to get some boxing skills and use the reach advantage he'll have over Hughes.
To me that's like saying if your fighting Tim Sylvia you should workout against a guy that's 5'6". Why would you not want to train with a guy that's as close to your opponent as possible, plus hone what your best assets are against his style.
Royce will give as good as he gets and deserves the chance a hundred times over for what he and his family have done for the sport what are you talking about Jackyl? This will be a great fight imo
Ah thought that may have been a factor
LOL @ the jackyl
I can't see how Royce will do any worse than Charuto did against Hughes, and in my opinion, Charuto won that fight.
Now, I don't think Royce will win this fight, but he has a decent chance.
Royce will stay withing the Gracie Family but should train with paramedics so he can treat his own wounds in the locker room
I'd be the happiest guy on earth if Royce wins via triangle!
But I am seriously thinking of putting money on Hughes. Royce will get people betting on him just by name recognition, so the odds might be even.
elgringo is correct. My money is on Hughes, and my heart is with Royce.
Gracie should train with Frank Shamrock.
Shamrock developed a good stratagy in his fights against strong wrestlers.
When the fight hits the ground after control in the guard is established; Royce should work on explosive submission and sweep attempts in combination much like Frank Shamrock did with Tito.
The game should change as the time goes on in the round saving a explosion and scramble in the end of each round. The fight could be won in the scramble. If Royce can reverse Hughes he can finish him. Matt has shown a weekness to submissions.
Royce just needs the right stratagy to win. He already has the submission skills and the experience. I feel that he has to change to an active game rather than a passive game. Frank can help him with this.
Eddie
I believe Fred Etish is helping Royce get ready for this fight!!! He is passing his vast knowledge of taking punishment and only giving up when 90% dead, to Royce!!!
I agree with Eddie I think he brings up a good point and for the love of Rogan Ray Jackson I hope you were joking about Jenna Jameson lol
mr. gracie,
you got me totally interested in the sports of mma and bjj when a coworker brought in ufc 2 from blockbuster to the fire station.
i had never been involved in any martial art and thereby had no preconvieved notions as to which style was best in real fighting. all i know is i saw you whoop ass and started learning straight-away. i soon ordered your "GJJ Basics" and recorded ufc(s)1-4 on a new year's eve. i studied those tapes a lot...i even have a signed picture of us taken at a seminar in jax, fl in 8/96. so i'm a fan from back in the day...i can still quote a lot from those shows even though i haven't seen them in years...
"he had already let go of his hold, so it wouldn't be fair to keep going" (ken in a ufc 1 post-fight interview)
"hey buddy!" (relson sticking up for mr. helio when joe son was getting in mr. helio's grill during the kimo fight. it should be noted that joe son ran like a bitch. but relson stuck up for your dad instantly)
"after training with rickson, anything will be a welcome change." (announcer quoting you in #3)
"this is my 'special' training"
...aka..."'he's too pretty to get hurt."...
"don't you ever say that about a wrestler again jeff"...(jim brown after the infamous triangle...which i did not get to see live b/c the cable cut out...that was bullshit and remember it like it was yesterday.)
bottom line: in my humble opinion you should bring in the best of each aspect, but at the end of the day it should be your family with whom you train. i will leave you with this...
"i'm just royce, i'm always just going to be royce. there is no change in me. money or no money, i'm not here for money, i'm here for the honor of the family."
please sub his ass the fuck out...and the GRACIE TRAIN IS A MUST!!!!!
sincerely,
john
Freds a very cool guy----and he also has the best fetal guard ever
You are quite correct!! There was no disrespect aimed at mr etish. Classy guy with a huge heart and extremely tough for his size!!
A poor attempt at wit on my part!! I apologise!!
