Who is the most successful LW ever?

It’s difficult to make an argument for the most successful, and everyone you mentioned was arguable. Has anyone defended it more than 2x in a row? Frankie had 2 defenses and a draw I think. There are probably 10 of them that given the right circumstances could have been the best.

I didn’t say he’d beat Jon jones. He gets the better of rockhold in training. That leads to believe he can out grapple either of those two guys.

I don’t know how anyone can pick a guy who can’t even make weight for his retirement fight.

What does that have to do with his greatness inside the cage

Threads like this only exist because people hate muslims, fucking delusional BJ fans, and sad, soul stole Conor fans who still can’t let go of 6 October.

You can only fight who stands across from you. People love to bring up the Iaquinta fight, as if Khabib is a fuckin jerkoff for taking it, when the reality is that he agreed to fight Ferguson, and Holloway, and Pettis, and Felder, all on less than a week’s notice.

For one reason or another, either through injury or the commission refusing the fights or whatever, all those fights didn’t happen. Had nothing to do with Khabib. When the UFC provided an offer that the commission approved of in Iaquinta, Khabib agreed to a 5th matchup, and dominated the fight.

And now you have fuckin plebs on the internet trying to clown him, in the same thread where people will will praise BJ for a “warrior spirit, fighting anyone at any time”. Khabib agrees to 5 different opponents in a week and gets nothing but disrespect. MMA fans blow.

Lol facts. They’re so fucking hard to please. They complain about free fight night events… like bruh nobody is forcing you to watch it :joy: just admit you’re a casual and you only want to watch the big name PPV’s and everything will be fine

Nah, I think Khabib likely wins the argument, but even his fans can’t say that he dominated for a long time and locked the division down for long periods as some of the other division champs previously mentioned. A vacated belt and two defenses =/= all time ownership. It’s also subjective to their time. Khabib could be the all time greatest in head-to-head comparisons, but someone from a generation or two before him could have been a long reigning king.

Great addition. I did forget Alvarez because I was just running through their UFC accolades in my mind, but he did have a hell of a resume. He was always super fun to watch and I wish he’d made it to the ‘UFC’ a little earlier in his career, because I think he could have laid claim to a 5+ bout title run in his prime vs. the contemporaries.

Just going off memory, I thought BJ had 3 defenses (was Diego @ 155 or 170?). I think Benson had 3. Edit to add Khabib had 3, too. Probably the best 3 in a row with Conor, Poirier, and Gaethje. I think that puts him on top, but not by a wide margin.

Does anyone think Islam can hold it down for an extended period?

Training is training.

I brought up the fight because it’s the truth. I can’t help that just like Khabib couldn’t. Further, because it’s the truth it’s something good to bring up. Funny how that works, isn’t it?

Also worth noting Al gave him one of his hardest fights, and that’s simply because he could actually wrestle defensively. Also the truth.

Absolutely

Terrible thread, feels like bunch of alt accounts just arguing with themselves :joy:
And how about to stop all talks about sheep and goats? Most of them are retired, no new fights, nothing changes

What do I have to do to prove that I’m not jack lol

More often than not frowning is what is indicative of what will happen in a fight.

This question is similar to asking who is the GOAT at 155. We did a poll in the past year and it looks like BJ and Khabib are tied (like, within a vote or two after 87 votes).

You got me there. Gastelum is no world beater in the gym but he’s a fucking killer on the night of the fight.

If the hardest fight in a guy’s career is a 50-43 domination, he’s the fucking GOAT

A lot of guys suck in the training room and kill it in the cage. Also a lot of killers in the gym fail in the cage.

That’s why I take training stories with a grain of salt. Too many variables to consider as well. Like was someone at the end of a session, injured, going light, starting on back, etc.
