i worked as an MMA reporter in Tokyo as a side gig throughout the heyday of PRIDE, so when I say I saw about 20 shows and all that, I also mean interviewing the fighters, going backstage, going under saitama super arena, etc.
I saw mark coleman crying backstage and rough-housing with randleman in the Pride GP, saw bob sapp take up an entire hallway with scared little japanese guys waiting for him to go down the hall before they would try to walk it, touched fedor’s sweater and later met him at the department store where he was buying another sweater lol, i wished wanderlei luck before he fought jackson, complimented minowa on his panties, etc.
Great times…
