As far as my personal experience, it is only Helio-side Gracies that teach guard passes involving hand on the bicep (Helio, Rorion, Royce, Relson, Ryron, Rener) - can anyone add to this list? How do others deal with the cross chokes, etc. that come from not controlling the opponent's left arm?
What do you mean hand on biceps?
Is that the kneeling guard pass when you put one hand on the other guys bicep as you try to open the guard with the other hand?
I was taught that pass, and I train with Gracie Barra.
Roy Harris teaches using the hands on the biceps as one of the most important fundamental postures within guard.
Royce still shows that as one option
It's a good pass, often done wrong.
Matt Pimp is el correctomundo imo
"How do others deal with the cross chokes, etc. that come from not controlling the opponent's left arm?"
I think you answered your own question. You have to control the arm and leg on that side. Otherwise, the guard player still has the attacks available.
