There may be a thread on this already, but does anyone think Wanderlei took a dive so that Shogun could win the GP or at least so they did not have to fight each other in the finals.
Now I know that Silva fought first but that just means he was confident that Shogun would win against Overeem.
This was a legit question, I don't care if Silva lost, I was just wondering if anyone else thought it seemed odd.
Damn you guys think that I'm riding his nuts, I think Arona is a great fighter and I wasn't saying that Silva taking a dive is the only way Arona would win.
I thought Arona would beat him anyway but usually Silva at least gets mad and swings for the fences but he never did.
Read the first post Jockey, I stated in it that Silva fought first and must have just been confident in his teammates skills. Apparently you can't read.
Anyway, I was asking a question not stating my opinion. I wanted to know if anyone else thought it was possible.
Silva has no answer once someone is able to put him on his back. Apparantly he learned nothing from his long time loss to Tito. You would think he would at least learn one reversal or sub anticipating being on his back facing Arona.
Whether they agree or not does not matter, the idea was to get some decent feedback rather than juvenille replies. And I guess you still can't read Jockey since I said I was questioning the possibility, not that I thought the only way Silva would lose if he threw the fight.
Silva has way too much to lose reputation-wise to take a dive for anyone. And he would probably rather cut both his balls off than taking a dive for Arona, of all people.
I thought he took a dive so that Shogun could shine. Not fundamentally flawed thinking, just one person's perception of the fight. Why should he get flamed for this?
You basically had a shortened fight which favored the guy trying to hold the other guy down. The leg kick which gave arona the first takedown was basically lucky, since Silva was in an akward position when it landed. There is no doubt that Silva held back his agression. That was likely for two reasons; 1) he was trying to conserve energy and 2) he was learly of getting taken down.
Basically, Arona won a non-decisive fight. He won a decision and was lucky to get the first takedown. I would personally not deduct much from Silva's status or add much to Arona's because it was in no way decisive. Some of us have said all along that Silva would have problems with top takedown artists.
I see why some people don't like to post on here. People like NHB Striker act like dicks. I offended nobody just voiced my opinion on an MMA thread. So please, shut the....up. I'm not bothering you or anyone on this thread.
