Who while "winning" really tried to finish?

Condit racked up karate style points on Diaz and although came closest to losing when Diaz worked for the choke in the last round, was thrilled he won...

Like Condit, Werdum kept back peddling the entire fight...unlike Condits, Werdums strikes did some damage, but like Condit, he was no where near finsihing off his opponent. Yet he was thrilled he won...

Koscheck kept glancing at the screen every couple of minutes to see how much time was left in a round to weigh how his points were going. No one that constantly does this is serious about finishing the fight.

It may not be their fault. They fought within the rules. Problem is, they are shitty rules. Maybe the UFC should take a nod from sport jiujitsu and Rose Gracie's submission only Gracie Nationals last weekend. Nick Diaz is undeniably a cry baby, but sometimes cry babies have a point.

ttt

yeah some ultimate point fighting on display

He was trying to tickle Diaz with this punches, knees, kicks, backfists.

Carlo's face is clean as a whistle

Sorry kids, if you boy can't adapt a gameplan not Carlos' fault

yeah it was really weak. See an Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Shogun, or Henderson fight for contrast

What we saw tonight was a true contender who doesn't have to cater to felony fight fans because he knows he is above that. He doesn't have to be a clown in the cage to stay on the roster as a 500 fighter in the UFC

I don't understand, were the punches Nick threw at Carlos more "intended to finish" than the punches (and kicks and knees) that Carlos threw at Nick? What exactly do your eyes tell you was the difference? Are you able to accurately judge velocity and force and thus you know that Nick was putting out more Newtons or joules or wtf ever?

Actually you must be new to mma. Henderson was known as Decision Dan for a long time and Silva has been in quite a few boring fights where he was in reverse. Condit has a better finish percentage then any of them

Anderson and Jones pick their shots, they don't rush in until their opponent is hurt. Just like Carlos.

"They fought within the rules. Problem is, they are shitty rules."

This quote pretty much sums it up.

"@dukeroufus: I am done teaching guys to fight! Gonna teach them to run like bitch & hold guys down like a bitch it wins! How do u like that fight fans?”

Great tweet by the man. It sums up what mma has become.

The problem lies not with Condit or any other fighter who wins by the rules of the game because they are doing what it takes to win with the rules they were given. Don't hate the player hate the game.

Zuffa is a joke too. They presented these fucked up rules, then get mad when guys exploit them, yet fire guys when they suffer one or two losses. What is a fighter to do?

lol, the rules suck, fighters shouldn't be able to avoid their opponents' strikes.

I say they should wear ski boots that are bolted to the cage floor about two feet apart from each other.

Squattuck and/or Fedorblower will be delighted to tell you that Zuffa didn't create the rules or get them established.

Before the fight happened I don't think anyone expected it to go 5 rounds with either guy not coming close to being finished.

new to mma? I was at UFC 3 when your daddy was watching golf, son

To answer the OP's question posed in the title, I'm going to lean toward the guy who threw more and landed more.

That is not what I am saying at all.

I am all for fighters fighting smart. The problem is fighting smart with these rules means not fighting a lot of the time.

I dont want Dana scaring fighters into fighting dumb but exciting either, standing and banging, which is the opposite side of the coin. I just wish we could go back to nhb days where every fighter was able to do what they needed to do to win the fight no mateer how boring it was and every fight was a fight to the finish. I know it wont happen but that would be my dream.

Where does whistleblower claim the unified rules come from. I'm willing to listen when he talks because he knows his shit.

I think Werdum was the one who was most trying to finish of the last few fights. Those knees would have dropped a majority of the roster in my opinion. The last little bit of the 3rd round I don't blame him for back peddling a little, did you see the torque Big Country had on that big right hand with like 30 seconds left in the last round?
