Because there are actually MMA fans that were boxing fans before they transitioned over to watching MMA. Most here started watching MMA after the got bored watching the WWE.
Many reasons.
1. I've been a Floyd fan for 15 years. Don't like the person, but he's the best boxer of his generation.
2. It's a freak show. I'm glad they're both getting paid, but I like competitive fight. This is a guy who's never boxed professionally taking on the next boxer of his generation.
3. If Conor somehow wins. (I have a decent amount of money saying he doesn't) but if he does, it's not because he's s better boxer. I say that because would he stand a chance against Canelo? How about GGG?
4. I don't want to see any other top boxers fight top MMA guys. I want to see competitive fights. Not freak shows. Hopefully this is one and done. If Conor wins it'll start a shitstorm of MMA vs boxing. Which is stupid.
5. I want to see Conor keep fighting the best MMA guys. His "legacy" in the octagon is anything but over.

Been a boxing fan longer than a MMA fan… this fight is a money grab and has no real ramifications for boxing or MMA the only difference is one guy retires and gave up all his belts in the sport he is gonna compete it while the other guy has never defended a title and is yet again holding up a title he has no intention of ever defending.

I don't hate either one of them. Bones seems to have serious mental issues. But I think he's the GOAT p4p. I don't think Conor is as good as you think he is. PBF is 49 and 0. Conor got tapped by Nate Diaz. He's great, but how can people put him up there with the GSP's, Bones, Fedor, DJ, etc...? He's don't great in his short career. He's on track to maybe be the GOAT?
