I would say it makes the UFC cards look boring because in England wrestling isnt a sport in high school. Think about it. Every time you call a guy a blanket it is usually because he is a former wrestler.
We need some new rules in the USA to nullify the blanket effect.
Maldini I disagree. They are great on the ground because they use Jiu Jitsu and they are great standing. The fact that they arent trying to use the "blanket offense" makes the fights exciting.
And it's not like I'm a striking hater or anything. Zaromskis vs. Mason was very good, and it was mostly standup. They were technical and aggressive. Most of these fights have been sloppy, ugly, and flat out boring.
What has been good about it? Watson/Smith? Awful. Johnson/Riccio? Even worse. Pointon/Bray? Two guys with zero grappling trying to grapple. Olivier/Mann? Boring. McSweeney/Buchanan? Looked like Sapp/Karaev, but shorter. Cahoon/Epstein? Completely dull.
