Why Chael is a Bad Match Up for Anderson

First he can take a punch he took some hard shots from Anderson that have easily knocked others out and still kept coming.

Second he has a very good straight right hand that caught Anderson and dropped him a couple of times. Some think it was because Anderson was injured and that may be part of it however I think it is because it is actually a very technical punch of the few that Chael has and Anderson is not used to a technical straight right he is used to more wild looping punchers and easily avoids them with head movement. However now that he is aware of it, it may be less of a threat now.

3rd Anderson cannot stop Chaels take downs. Also in the Bisping fight Bisping is much bigger and stronger then Anderson and has a different style. While I think Anderson would maul Bisping while Chael had a hard time with him he will have a hard time with Chael simply because of the style size and strength differences and Bisping has great take down defense and is very good at getting back up if getting taken down.

I am not saying Chael will win for sure Anderson is champ for a reason but it's most likely not going to be some quick knock out like some think. Chael does have a very good shot at winning this fight.

Flame away...

Too bad for chael he is easy tappins...

Everyone brazillian he has fought in UFC or WEC has tapped him out.

Jeremy Horn owns chaels soul.

I wouldn't say easy it took Anderson 5 rounds and barely got the tap in time. However Chael's pride is his down fall. if he doesn't swallow that pride and really work on submission defense then yeah he could fall again to a submission.

he's getting KO'd this time around, mark that shit on your calendar

Well, actually Silva slipped in the 5th round. Chael even confirmed this in the post fight press conference. Chael basically landed one good punch in the first round on the feet and Silva was the far better striker the entire fight after the first round.

Also, that fight was not about takedowns. Silva stopped over 50% of Chael's takedown attempts. Bisping, Okami, Maruqardt, Stann, none of them did that.

That fight was all about control. Silva was on top of Chael twice in that fight, taking Chael down once in the first round and after Chael pulled guard in the 4th when Silva sprawled on a takedown attempt. Chael was able to just stand up in the first, and reversed Silva in the 4th. But when Chael was on top, Silva could not get up and took a lot of punishment.

I think the fight will look more like the 4th round, where Silva hurt Chael very badly and probably could have knocked him out if he didn't follow Chael to the ground and give him a chance to recover. We'll probably see Silva at his absolute best. I'd be surprised if Chael gets out of the first 2 rounds and think Silva has a good chance of ending it in the first.

Anything is possible but doubt it. He took Anderson's best shots in the last fight that have KO'd others easily and still kept coming. So what makes you think suddenly he can be KO'd so easily this time around?

Agreed

I think Ando isnt used to someone In your face as much as Sonnen is Phone Post

Chael has to smother Anderson for 5 rounds... Anderson has 5 rounds to finish him.    The last fight was the closest Chael was ever gonna get because Silva didnt know everything sonnen brought to the table.

Anderson is gonna booty whip him.

Chael landed that straight right several times and dropped him twice before the 5th. Silva on top what the fuck fight were you watching LOL? Chael toot several of Silva's best shots and it didn't knock him out yet folks are saying Silva will knock him out in the 1st or 2nd because he is healthy? Doubt it Anytime Silva engages punches or kicks he usually draws back his limbs with Chael attached. If he knocks him out it will have to be a series of good combos because he obviously could not do it with on punch like he does others. And Chael knows to clinch up as soon as Anderson engages and it usually ends in a take down.

Oh and LOL at stopping 50% of Chaels take downs...

Agreed and he may try to end it quick if he is healthy this time however I am not sure he knows how to handle Chaels style and he knows when ever he engages he is risking a takedown.

Reality trumps stats Anderson spent 5 rounds on his back... Sigh.

Anyone want to discuss actual strategies and style match up etc. or do we just have mostly basement dwellers who want to pump out one liners with no substance?

I am the champion, so I will always have my belt," he said. "Will Anderson bring his fake belt? Yeah, he most likely will, and I think it's embarrassing he has to do that. I think what he's doing is he's seeing the influx of new viewers the FOX deal got us, he went out to do his level best to misinform the new viewers into believing he's champion, and he went out and got himself a fake belt. I think it's embarrassing. I would never do that. I think it's shameful. I think it's disrespectful to everything that I've done and I've earned in the sport, but he continues to do it. So I'm going to destroy him once and for all, finally, on July 7, live and only on pay-per-view

Andy's rib was injured!!

J/k. I'm rooting for Chael. I badly want this fight to start at round 6 as if the tap never happened. Their 1st fight was great, made for a perfect story- now it can be made to look like Chael has Andy's number, which is undoubtably gonna be the advertising angle... I can hear the Joe Rogan sound clips now... probably gonna be something like "every other opponent Silva's faced in the UFC has had trouble just getting out of the 1st round with him. Sonnen stood with him and made it look easy to take him down. When Anderson pulled off the surprise triangle in the last minute of the 5th, the fight had been so one-sided that it was considered an 'upset' by many!" DFW cameo: "At the end of the day, the question is, does Chael Sonnen have Anderson Silva's @#%$in' number? Chael's talked so much $#@$ and you gotta wonder if he's inside Silva's head. At the end of the day, at the @#1%$ing end of the #$!%€ day, what matters is who's gonna get their #¡¢¥$ hand raised. And we're gonna find out when this $#!% goes down on Saturday night." Or something to that extent. Phone Post

Well I'm NO fan of that big mouth, but can you be more specific as to what they R buying into exactly that is false & exactely how they R victims?

These guys fought before. Sonnen in full control over 4 rounds.

IMO best chance AS had is for a test for PED's on Sonnen today! But Dana ain't doing random testing accross the board.

I still say AS may not actually fight him.

His rib was injured but not so bad he could not move like the old Anderson when he realized Chael was not going down as if magically death touched like others have from his punches. Bottom line his rib was not so injured that he could not throw some hard shots and he had Chael hurt at one point but Chael just kept coming.
