Are you guys serious? 4 guys on the main card are coming off losses in title fights and all have something to prove. This is the first fight back for Couture, Babalu, Hughes and Franklin. Throw Sylvia in the mix, and you have 5 guys who have been in recent title fights. These guys are the cream of the crop and they are facing tough opponents.
McDonald submitted both Leben and Ed Herman...Franklin should win, but no matter who wins, this fight will be filled with fireworks. Either Rich wins by huge KO, or he gets subbed. Either way, it's news.
Some people are asking if Hughes will ever be the same. We'll find out against Lytle. Again, either Hughes pounds him out, or Lytle KO's him..either way, it'll be cool.
People are writing Lambert off after his loss to Rashad, but look at the guys Lambert beat recently. He's a bad ass and this fight will also be cool because either Babalu loses, or he pulls a slick sub...again, no matter what it's cool.
Whether you think Randy has a shot or not, how can you not be excited to see him back in there? If he takes Timmy down and pounds on him, that'd kick ass...if Timmy finally ets his hands go and he KO's Randy, that's also big news...and it's not like we have to worry about it being boring. Randy keeps the pressure up and none of his fights are boring.
How can you guys look at a UFC show that has 5 guys who have fought for a title in the last year, and not be excited?
Becaue on paper it's lackluster by comparison to previous UFCs and the recent Pride event - which looked better on paper than this one does. Now if it's nothing but upsets, you may have something.
I haven't voiced any complaints here, but I'll answer the question: The outcomes all seem to obvious. I feel like I already know how 4 of the fights will go.
I haven't looked at the odds, but I'm guessing Sylvia, Hughes, Franklin and Sobral are all pretty heavy favorites. I see no reason any of them should lose.
I hope I'm wrong. One upset is all it will take to make it a great show. Especially if it's Randy over Sylvia.
I also think a lot of people are lessn-than-thrilled with event, not because of the card, but because we all love Randy and expect to see him lose. I feel like a Broncos fan preparing to watch them in the Super Bowl before they got Shannahan.
And let's face it, the UFC PPVs have gone up in price and down in fight count. After buying that Pride event (shit-ton of fights by comparison), I'm having a hard time justifying buying this one too.
If they're putting on PPV's every fuckin month, along w/some UFC fight nites in between, its fairly obvious that you're not always going to get the top guys being healthy and ready to fight at the same time.
We get to see UFC fights once sometimes twice a month and even more when the TUF show is on. What the hell is there to complain about???
