Against Fujita @ Pride 10? He was clearly winning the fight (sorry if this has already long been answered).
"Peety , my heart"
he thought he was having a heart attack.
and honestly i can relate.
one time i was banging this chick in the shower because she was on the rag. The water was real hot and there was a lot of steam. after about 10 minutes My chest started hurting and i though i was having a heart attack. I actually said
"peety my heart"
Ken says himself he was having an infection prior to the fight and thought he was about to have a heart attack once the heart started racing. Those who have done hard exercise or competed while being sick knows the feeling of your heart rate rising uncontrollably although you are sitting down.
There are of course steroid speculations too, use google.
thanx guys! y use google when I can consult the real experts on teh UG??
It was a legit loss. He mentally broke once he realized how tough Fujita was.
my heart!
CompanyBlue - It was a legit loss. He mentally broke once he realized how tough Fujita was.
Yep, it's why he tried to redeem his own personal pride by fighting so hard and taking such beatings against Frye and Tito.
Don Frye (who has EMT training) was cornering Fujita and went over to check on Shamrock. Shamrock's corner objected because of the bad blood between Ken and Don but apparently Frye told them to fuck off because Shamrock's pulse was over 200bpm. Frye told the story once a long time. Cant remember where but Ken was definitely having a serious medical problem and didnt give up simply because he was tired.

This. Frye hated Shamrock's guts at the time but even admitted that something was really fucked up with Ken's heart beat. Anyone who shits on Ken for "quitting" is just a keyboard warrior. Fujita was ranked in the top 10 and Shamrock was killing him.
Mike Sanders said on here that Ken was blowing rails before the fight, but I'm not sure who told him that.
Leon Spinks did more coke than Scarface before he fought Ali and Spinks beat the GOAT and had the fight of his life. Lots of things, even over the counter cold meds could have caused this problem.

This is why I've always believed it. No way Frye made that up at that time..
A training partner who did security work for Pride in Japan told me that Ken was out partying all night before the fight.
Just repeating what he said...
Shammy looked like a total beast in that fight before the stoppage. He was destroying Fujita standing.

Wow! Did a couple of 10rs get ahold of old accounts?

THIS ^^
I remember the interview VERY clearly where Frye himself said Ken's HR was around 200BPM...Also, Ken was CLEARLY sick going into this fight to anyone that's seen the prefight interview.

Source for Leon Spinks getting coked out of his mind to fight Ali ??

Please don't relate next time, or at least not to us.
During the time before the fight, Shamrock was going through a divorce and had to take care of his young kids during the day, which severely cut into his training time for the fight. Despite this, Shamrock dominated Fujita throughout the entire fight, putting on a sprawl and brawl and nearly knocking Fujita out. However, he eventually had his corner throw in the towel because he felt like he was having a heart attack, ending an exciting fight in anticlimactic fashion. He was evaluated after the fight and it was determined that he was suffering from heart palpitations.
Shamrock talked about what happened to him in an interview: "I'm not sure, even to this day, I'm not sure. Everything went white and I couldn't see. My heart felt like it was pounding through my chest. I'm not quite sure what happened. I couldn't control my vision, my balance, I don't know what was wrong with me. I was going through a lot just then, I was going through a divorce and my 4 kids were dropped off on me in a two bedroom apartment, so I didn't get to train properly for the fight. There was a lot going on in my life at the time and I think that there was a whole bunch of stress built up on me and it came out when I didn't want it to."
I was thinking that he broke his hand on Fujita's skull.
Not to mention all the juice Ken was on at the time.
