I mean they could have had a great tourney if they had changed the fights and bracket a little bit. It's really disappointing to see the tourney almost implode on the first day.
Lol @ "implode on the first day". Are you kidding me?
Barnett vs. Kharitonov could be the classic story of wrestler vs. striker. Barnett is pretty good on the ground too, shame on you if you think this fight would be bad.
Rogers vs. Kharitonov would be a bomb-fest! Rogers' crazy swinging for the fences style vs. Kharitonov's precise, scientific striking would make for a fantastic standing war.
Ubereem vs. Big Foot would be a pretty good fight. Big Foot's wang and bang style vs. Ubereem precise standup (just like Rogers vs. Kharitonov) would be an awesome standup fight. Once it gets to the ground, it'd be awesome to try and watch Ubereem try and power his way to his feet, or into a submission while trying to stay out of Big Foot's submissions.
Werdum vs. Big Foot would be an awesome display of BJJ.
You're a fucking goofball if you think this tournament has imploded. It only got more interesting after tonight.
Simply put they wanted to guarantee a Fedor vs Overeem showdown.
Didn't work out.

I'm a fucking goofball for asking a question????????
I said almost implode and they just lost their 2 biggest names in one night of action. They could have a a monster tourney if they had bracketed the fighters a little different to "cater" to their bigger names like most of the Pride tourneys did. The whole point was to atleast get a Fedor- Overeem or possibly Fedor Werdum rematch fight. Now Arlovski one of the biggest names in HW MMA is done and possibly retired. Fedor the best HW got manhandled on the first round of the tourney. All I'm saying is they could have went about it a little differently to give us a better chance for a great finale

I meant "you're" as in the general you. Lot of people are saying this tournament is worthless now. But you're right, a lot of the big names have been bingod. I think you're right in terms of money-making. Yes, the big-name bouts are pretty much out of the window because the recreational fan doesn't really know who Ubereem is or Werdum. On the more technical side of things, for long-time fans of mixed martial arts, I think this tournament has the most potential since the 2006 Open-Weight GP in PRIDE.
For fight fans its still very interesting. I really don't care about finances.
